Wow was the bouncer vs assault buff intended?

    I had an hour or so before I had to teach a class so I fired up MNC on my laptop.

    I jump into a match on spunky and go assault because I feel like having fun regardless of my team. I start playing like I've seen Xenonox play to see if it would make any difference.

    My team started with two tanks on each side and an assault per side. It was really a blow for blow match but our tanks were better and we were starting to push back pretty well. I could really feel our synergy as my juice built up.

    All of a sudden the opposing tanks have the bright idea of using their funds to buy a bouncer or two. I just happened to be upgrading our forward most rocket turret when the bouncers came rolling in.

    They were all like: "Oh looks like the rape train is a'comin in and it dont have no brakes baby, choo choo!" The first headed for a tank ahead of me. Before I could help I had one to deal with. My GL shots were not doing enough to slow its approach and my bomb was under the effects of the "Blue skill bug". I grappled the bouncer but to my surprise IT DID NOT DIE.

    Thankfully our rocket turrets came back online and stopped the push.

    So I must say two things:
    1.) Was this change intended?
    2.)Why does the blue skill bug happen?

    The bouncers are broken beyond belief, they do way too much damage, have an invisible lunge and they do damage if they miss the lunge. Also they are almost impossible to kill quickly for just $100.

    Assault and Support are the only two Pros who don't have a grapple that OHK's Bouncers.

    The GL grapple was never enough to finish off a Bouncer whereas the lvl3 Charge was supposed to before the last patch
    So all you can do now is if you see it coming, try to line up with an open area so you'll send it on a RingOut

    Oddly enough, the lvl3 AssaultGrapple still does 5000 damage to bots and Bouncers are still 5000 health but I don't think I've seen a Bouncer take more than 2-3000 damage

    What gunner grapple OHKO's bouncer? because neither the mortar or skill one do unless it needs to be upgraded but I've never upgraded my grapple past level 2.

    Skill grapple 3 does OHKO bouncers.

    Also, bouncers do seem quite ridiculous. The few times I've played Assault, pretty much nothing stopped them. Not even the bomb. =.= Meanwhile, Snipers/Assassins can just grapple them.

    Lead them over to your teammates. I heard they like it when you do that.

    I just stand behind a Tank. Once the Tank realizes the Bouncer is there he will make short work of it.

    Are you complaining that you can't grabble a Bouncer as Assault when your headcrab instantly destroys it?

    Bouncers have 5000 hp.

    Headcrabs do 2000 damage.

    So yeah, Headcrabs instantly destroys bouncers just like Assault Charge 1 instantly destroys Tanks with Gold Armor.

    I'm sure you're thinking of the Jack Bot? Bouncers, the four legged dog-like being definately dies to a Headcrab at full hp ?

    P.S. Charge Rank 1-Ring-out destroys tanks with gold armor :i

    I had charge 2 and my bomb skill was under the effect of a bug plus I did not want to chance that I would miss and still get killed.

    Charge 1 wont almost EVER ring out a tank since he can use his jets + own charge to get back and the knockback on charge 1 is next to nothing.

    Also jackbot has 20,000 health. Bouncers have 5000health. Bomb does 2750damage to bots when directly attached. Just over half a bouncers health. Go try it if you don't believe me. (also that is only if you have bomb 3, bomb 2 does 2500 and bomb 1 does 2250)

    Assaults are really nutted when it comes to bouncers. Headcrabs arent one hit, lv3 isnt, GL grapple only does 50%.
    If you're too close, the GL will hurt you and the AR takes ages.
    Especially on Spunky 'Dodge the Bouncer' Cola when Bouncers appears so frequently it's unfun

    Yeah, the Lv3 charge grapple damage to bots got broken at the same time that they fixed the non-grapple damage.

    Then at the same time the bouncers changed (or broke) to do big damage with their lunge when they miss. Sometimes they'll hit with the lunge and a regular attack at the same time, taking more than 50% off the health of most classes.

    I think they've always had the teleport lunge though.. and a ridiculous tendency to come out of nowhere as soon as I juice!

    Anyway, people need to learn to aim their grapples instead of going "HURR RED BUTEN KILL THINGS".


    Knock a bouncer onto catwalks and 75% of the time their pathing breaks. They won't stop trying to go for you, even if you have teammates on the catwalks. After a while they'll just self-destruct. Until that's fixed (they get programmed to jump down from catwalks or immediately start targeting people on the new elevation) it works, or you can also ring out bouncers with proper aim.


    For assault, you can also jump high enough and fly with passive 2 so that the bouncer's lunge can't hit you, which is easily followed up with a grenade launcher grapple after you're doing pelting it with grenades as it approaches and by that point the grapple should destroy it. Can we please use our heads before coming onto the forums to complain?

    I'm not sure I mentioned but I did have passive 2 and jumped when it was in range to get some more shots in.

    I then grappled it when I came down. I kind of left a small bit out of the story.

    Robots should be an actual threat and IMO I'd give bouncers jetpacks so they could follow pros up z-levels and hover around as well.

    Buzzer's need to appear in swarms of about 50.

    Gremlins should be able to grapple.

    Scramblers should be VERY fast and invisible and a great deal stronger.

    while it would be kind of cool to have things like that as a more expensive bot-purchase option...

    the big problem is on spunky arena, a large number of powerful bots just makes it very hard for either side to do anything, and just pushes the match toward overtime.
