Will there be Galactic Empire wars???

This is the question that I am dying to find out It would be awesome to have HUGE battles that take place in the galactic war. Tell me what you guys/girls think about this and I would like to hear some of your ideas!! :P

I think they might be referring to galactic war. In which case, yes, it was a stretch goal that was reached. Mind you, it isn't some sort of 100+ real time galaxy battle, but instead it's a meta for each solar system battle to be somehow connected in order to have a purpose. Still very exciting

Imagine, 8 people on one team (empire), and another 8 people on another team. All teams are separated on different planets. Now they all are fight on all different planets and some how, they have to come together to destroy there enemy. That sounds like a cool gamemode

No, it sounds like a normal 8v8 game, in which each player gets a planet.

Galactic War is a meta game to string together a series of skirmish games.

Perhaps he is trying to suggest that rather than having a galactic war with 1v1s and 2v2s there are also some really large scale battles on important planet clusters. Perhaps with options for reinforcements etc.

And the point is still that you don't need anything specific for that kind of gameplay aside from having enough players.

Are we completely sure that the Galactic War is intended to be multiplayer?

I think you could 5v5 in TA's galactic war, although it wasn't common.

I really hope you're wrong, because that doesn't sound exciting at all. I was under the impression from the kickstarter that the solar systems are traversable in real time and all a part of the same game.

ie. System 1 has 10 planets and system 2 has 8 planets so there are 18 planets in a single game with the same 8 players spread across all planets with forces in both systems simultaneously fighting each other.

No, it's going to be equivalent to Total Annihilation's Galactic War feature, Zero-K's Planet Wars and soon FAF's Galactic War. Zoughbaj is right.

There's no reason to believe that the map editor can't support multiple solar systems, as long as they're really close!

Until I see something from Uber themselves, I will hold out hope.

"every time you play, you get a different galaxy to conquer" We already know there is no single player. Only Skirmish and multiplier. To me that quote says when a lobby starts a game a new galactic war is randomly created; Therefore not a meta-game, just a regular game.

"Awe man! At hour 2 I went over here and I finally took out that solar system that had 3 gas giants." That means he didn't start a new game to move to another solar system. He started in 1 solar system and moved on to conquer another one hours later in the same game.

bobucles is right though you could probably have multiple stars in a system or multiple star systems, i doubt Uber will purposefully limit the game in any way. so you have some hope in that i think.

That is really a shame, and something they definitely should have made clearer in their video as it obviously confused a lot of people.

That doesn't seem like a bad assumption to me. WTF is the point of assigning a cost to a stretch goal is it's just an arbitrary number? In my eyes if you assign a value to a goal and it doesn't cover the cost, you deserve to eat the difference. Just like IRL when you quote someone a cost for a product or service. You either ask for more as soon as you realize you've under quoted or you live up to your promises and learn from the mistake next time....

It was made pretty clear what GW was in the video. People are just hyped up by every other aspect of the game and that momentum hypes up GW beyond what it actually is.

This assumes that kickstarter budget is the entire budget, which it's not. They new that if the game funded there would be other resources, but they needed to ensure that there was a minimum level of demand first.

And it was clear from the videos what galactic war was, they have always referred to it as a meta-game, I think it's more people wanting one giant galactic battle and just seeing/hearing what they want. And if you search and don't look all that hard, you'll find a pile of threads with wrong information that was latter corrected.
