Will the transition between planets be seamless and in 3d?

Right now, the transition from the planetary view to the solar system view is quite jarring. On my mid-range system, there is a total freeze of the game for several seconds and then you pop out in a 2D view...

Now, I don't see any build-up of details. It's all instantaneous, hence the freeze. Am I the only one who thinks it would be better to just stream/fade/ease in a little bit of detail at the time so the game doesn't have to freeze, even if you can't see all units and such immediately?

Also, I know that the solar system view is in 3D but you can't rotate it so the impression is different and it feels like a consistency break in the UI, despite perhaps it being an effort to appear more organized. I hope there will at least be an option to enable full 3D rotation even in the solar system view (and galaxy view beyond that)?

I understand it's still early but right now, the transition is not seamless at all, which at least for me was the biggest selling point of the game... I'm still dreaming about Will Wright's Spore presentation from GDC 2005 before EA massacred it...

A non-overhead view of the solar system would not be tactically useful.
