Will the resource (Metal/Mass) system be the same as in TA?

I recently saw ores on the ground in PA and I realized that, I will not be able to put my metal extractors wherever I want. So I ask now, will the system be the same as in TA?, will be able to put my metal extractors wherever I want? or will I have to put them on the ores only.

I care because I like my base neat and tidy, so I put all my extractors and generators in groups close together, but if I will have to put the extractors on ores, and ores only it will look a mess, because the ores are not close together nor are they in groups in a order. And if I will HAVE to put it on the ores, my unit production will be WAY slower, because I will have to search for more ores to put my extractor on.

I have a idea how to make us both happy, (And other people) (I am guessing you want the ore system) My idea is that when you put a metal extractor anywhere it will give you a certain amount of metal (EG, 20 Metal/s), but if you put it on a ore you get double the amount of metal it would normally give you (EG 40 Metal/s)

Obviously, it doesn't have to be double, it can be whatever you want.

I think it would be better, and more realistic, because if you dug down for ages, you would almost always find something.

Everyone is more then welcome to tell their opinion and if you agree, tell me, other people and the Devs :D

    You must love Skittles. :p

But, yeah, in all likeliness (99.9%+ chance, I'd say), you won't be able to build Mass Extractors everywhere; you'll need to use those 'ore spots', as you call them.

It seems I have developed Synesthesia....

Metal points have to be the only place where you can place extractors or the optimal strategy would be to cover every square inch of your home planet with extractors. Limited resources provokes conflict just like in real life but unlike real life conflict is fun for everyone in this case.

There's a thread, started by Scathis, that goes into detail about how our economy works. That's the best primer for the subject.

Also, don't make me take away your ability to use color coding. Good god, man, my eyes are bleeding. :)

metal extractors everywhere? => too much metal for everyone most likely. you would have to limit the amount of extractors for each player, which would be very lame.

If you dont limit by either number or metal spots, you're exponential economy goes out of the roof, which means, it goes out of manageability and also out of your computers hardware to handle all the millions of units you can produce.
