i am unfortunately starting to think about this now.. i have been into several beta games and alpha games wich have had performance issues in them and never been solved upon release...for example arma 3... since this game is getting some hefty lags from a 4 player game with 100-200 units each on a small map...how is this game gonna handle galacti war with several thousands of units and 40 players? i cannot even imagine how this is gonna be fixed in some months seeing that they push 1 update a week that is not very "significant" of importance.. sure everyone will yell its beta what do you expect..heck they said that in alpha for arma3..hey its alpha man its supposed to be laggy... i dont trust alpha/beta games after this incident dont make me cry when you release this game devs..i really want a good strategy game. i played supcom for a good over 1000 hours and i dont want this to fail if you must, postprone release, just dont make a mistake here
If your having framerate issues please check this thread https://forums.uberent.com/threads/how-to-improve-frame-rates-all-video-cards.53165/ If you are still having big issues please describe the issue breifly and post both the DxDiag.txt and PA-00-00-00-000.txt here or on the Framerate thread. The more hardware specific detial we get from these 2 files the more likely Uber and the community can fix issues with your specific hardware.. Im running the game on a Acer Iconia Tablet PC "Intel hd 4000 GPU" and i get a solid 30fps when i use the settings listed in my framerate thread. I hope that's better than saying its beta. If you do your bit too and help with bug info and those 2 file "dxdiag.txt and your log file pa-00-00-00-000.txt" then these bugs will be squashed before release. if you just complain WA WA sh*t dont work, then nothing will get fixed for your specific hardware and at release time you will suffer.
i am getting good framerates on certain maps..like if there is a 3-4 planet system with small planets i am getting good fps. but over time lets say 20 minutes and out the game is starting to get worse and worse. mostly because of bigger armies and expanding to other planets..and sometimes when everyone has alot of units the game might crash or desync out of game. i am using a Samsung g700 laptop with i7 and radeon something i dont remember, ssd drive and 8gb of ram so it should be enough for this kind of game..internet connection 10mbps download speed and 6mpbs upload
Not at dig at you either if it seemed that way, just stating that too many people are complaining and not doing anything usefull like supplying us with log files and details of hardware.
Cool Cheers, i will see what i can find out for you. ATM stay with 2-3 planets small to meduim size. your internet bandwidth seems to be your issue, the game heavily depends on the connection to the server at the moment. any lag issues reflect as in game pauses and framerate drops.
also here is my dxdiag i upgraded my gfx some weeks ago also to newest drivers so i dno what to do...i dont think it is my laptop because i run other games just fine...like war thunder at max gfx, european escalation, RO2 and skyrim also my speed is 100mb....the 10mbps is the speed i get down constantly when streaming stuff etc etc same for upload speed on 6mbps
Extra info. Lava planets are buggy ATM they cause performance issues. 500+ units needs more bandwidth than the started 200k/s minimum internet speed requireed for BETA testing. this wont be an issue at release as the game will not need the server for single player and LAN.
I was playing Dead Island Riptide fine on my OLD video card drivers , but PA wouldn't run .. i had to update them again, wich SXX helped me with "my tablet PC was an a_s_s to find an updated driver for" or the game would crash out constantly
also my speed is 100mb....the 10mbps is the speed i get down constantly when streaming stuff etc etc same for upload speed on 6mbps
Set your desktop to 1280x720 and run the game for me and tell me if that helps crashout's and framerate issues please, i noticed your running the game at 1920x1080
your drivers appear to be fine Also ,, some of the shaders are not fully fuctional with ATI cards yet (they were written based on nVidia hardware specs i think) this is being worked on right now i think. a lot of ATI users are suffering because of it.
Damn , i was hoping you would get a minor improvement.. can you post you pa log file here?? C:\Users\"YourUserName"\AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\PA-00-00-00.000.txt "Click sort by date so the most recent one is at the top, And post that one here."
this was my latest game..lasted for an hour i think because of lacking the units to be able to invade some other planet if its already taken. it was ok fps in the start but degrading after the course of battle. also it was just 2 planets with medium size
1 Launch Steam and click on the "Settings" button. Click on the "In-Game Settings" tab. 2 Uncheck the box next to "Enable Steam Community In-Game" and click OK. 3 Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab. try that and tell me if it helps any.. sorry its got to be a trial and error test to see if we can get something good for you
it's a little bit unusual for you to get issues, your log file says your game loaded faster than what it does on my machine, and all of the shaders compiled fine for you i will pass the info on to another person who is real good at solving issues and i will also try and find a dev whom isn't busy as hell coding or making in game art to see if there is anything that can be done at this point in time.
Are you using the HDR and FXAA in game ?? both of my ATI laptops really don't like having those on, they work but kill game badly at times. The log file says your using high or custom setting's, so not sure if those items are on
