Indeed, seems like Jables and co. are systematically adding all the features we've always wanted since the Kickstarter. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw them soon.

we're not, and they should at least fix the bug with AIs trying to land in the lava and getting stuck.

No no, we aren't, but the devs are.

And? The devs have so far been pretty good about listening to the community. Besides, if they don't, we can always mod in the old lava.

Can't tiny 100m moons be asteroids?

I'm just saying if the devs feel happy/good about something they may not be as prone to change it as you'd like.

    There are many examples. =P

extra small moons are really borked right now though, the lighting gets all 'patchy'

I really don't understand what "asteroids" even would mean. Just a little new biome type that is roughly a moon but with another textures and maybe a rather unusual high height range?

Possibly it could be different from other biomes in that you would need to build a special lander that reaches the asteroid and slowly deploys into a halley. During that time maybe nukes could launch at it to destroy it, but units might not be able to land on something so small. That would work more like what we saw in the kickstarter video, I guess.

Really though I don't see what it would add to the game that we don't already have. It's starting to feel pretty complete as it is.

I agree, gameplay wise we do not need that. Personally I wouldn't mind a few new textures for a real asteroid biome that looks more "asteroidish", but that's really .... errm have I mentioned stuff about energy lately? That's the stuff I want to see fixed, what do I care for a few extra textures. xD

If uber is still sticking to what they thought they might do with them it sounded like they would add a lot. Having a belt of mostly unusable rocks with a few asteroids that would be usable that would possibly regenerate after a certain amount of time. Maybe these would have a specific engine type and could be used as nuke sized weapons or smaller or even larger. The sizes are endless (not really). Maybe we would even see a revamp on the current Halley system and planets, including small moons, would need more than just one or a few... who knows though. I look forward to seeing what uber cooks up :)

Why are asteroids so important? What would they add to the game mechanics that we already have?
