Why is **** a "bad" word when it only means poop?

If poop isn't a bad word, then why is **** a bad word? Poop and **** are the exact same thing. There are no differences between poop and ****. Can somebody please explain why **** is a bad word.

Because it is. The very concept of a word being profane is just...well, like the most extreme that subjectivity can be taken to. There's no sense in it. It just is.

Why is blue blue and not green? Why is sky sky not ground?

Comparing taboos and science doesn't really work.

Forgetting the fact that you are human and we all see/recognize colors the same way because of the visible spectrum (380 to 750 nm IIRC) it is very well possible that another creature (for example an alien) sees colors differently because of their spectrum.

So as long as you are not an alien or something along those lines you see green as green (or rather you recognize is at green) the same way Ekanaut recognizes it.

Silly question. Words that are considered "obscene" have more to do with social customs than the meaning of the word itself. Any "bad" word has a polite alternative.

Unless you're colorblind, then green is white.

There are people who can't tell the difference between green and red. I think 5% of the male population have a problem keeping them apart. What do they see when they look at green or red?
