The Orca range is lower now than when it was the Bluebottle. I completely blanked that change from my mind. Why was that done? It's so short it isn't very useful against land, but the Leviathan decimates it at sea.
I don't know. Right now there is a huge imbalance between basic and advanced – across all unit types. Bots, vehicles, naval, and air. All of the basic units are completely pointless when compared to their advanced counterparts. Basic naval is just completely pointless because of the massive range, damage, and health differences. I'm just chalking up this current balance iteration as Uber purposefully going too far in one direction so they can find the middle ground. Previously, basic spam won the match. Currently, advanced units win the match. Hopefully that means the next round of balancing will result in finding that middle ground. If not this next round of balancing... then we'll get there eventually.
Because the already existent t2 dominance simply wasn't enough. "All units should be viable at all points of the game" really means "You should be building t2".
T1 boats need to be faster if they are ever to be useful once T2 comes out. I don't htink t2 naval invalidates T1 boats, they have different firing mechanics and abilities which is nice.
I think the balance was ok when it was 6:1. Balance got off when it became 3T1:1T2. And turrets/ubercannon changes have repetitively moved that equilibrium in favour of a player who doesn't build hnits until mid to late game... Hmph.... partial derivatives it is then.
