Let's talk about idea's to who made the ancient worlds that have been dormant for ions.

My idea's is inspired by the Reapers a bit, hope you don't mind :)

These worlds where constructed trough out the known milky way by ''those'' who had the knowledge of everything.

In time these metal world's got covered by nature, but in fact it where the action of the harvesters.

Over millions of years civilizations rose on those worlds and eventuality would be whipped out. There purpose was unknown, some thought they where working towards a goal of the unknown.

These days they lie dormant, but recent activity has shown that the core of these worlds are becoming more active. It seems like some kind of message is been send out to a dark patch of space.

These metal worlds have only one message for those who find it:
Those who uses this world for there own purpose will be whipped out.

    Prepare...

What do you guys think :), Just something fast ofcourse ^^

Never been a huge fan of the 'advanced ancients' trope.
Plus aren't these 'brutally efficient' battle bots already supposed to have assimilated and perfected their engines of war.

Instead I proposed they were a series of white elephants built by a future Howard Hughes.
Consigned to the dustbin of history and abandoned, it is only now they being rediscovered, upgraded, and finally made to do what their germiphobic inventor intended.

Ancients thing is generic but somehow still retains the cool factor for me so I'd be fairly happy with that.

Of course there's no real reason that the "ancient worlds" couldn't have been made by the robots of the endless war. Maybe they could be factory worlds that make commanders who are then launched to the planets of nearby solar systems to colonise them and wage battle?

Remind yourself the Total Annihilation intro...
"What began as a conflict over the transfer of consciousness from flesh to machines (...)".
Humans or some other organic creatures.

It fits. They're described as "forgotten"; you can't forget what you never knew about.

Anyway, it's going to be very broad-strokes fluff, like TA. Lots of suggestion and room for interpretation.

Humans made them when they were still alive to fight the war. The humans are dead.

They are remnants of human conflict.

Concept ripped off from voyager (and likely older sci-fi novels as well).

Humans (A) made robots to destroy their enemies (B).
Humans (B) made robots to destroy their enemies (A).

    Robots destroyed all humans.
The robots are still fighting in an endless war without mercy.
