    UPDATE:

    ******************************************************************
It seems the "Spunky Cola Special" DLC fixed the matter (for most of the time). I'm glad to have dowloaded the package and finding myself enjoying the game once again! Thank you Uber!

I don't know what exactly it is they changed but the match making system makes sense again. Over the past few days I played MNC, opponents where thightly matched, resulting in tense and exciting games. Ok, the party is broken up on very rare occasions but hell I don't care about that. the most important thing is: the fun is back!
Even the old arenas have become more fun with the removal of some blatant design errors. MNC has grown enormously (still hate the support though...) and has regained the respect it deserves.

    ******************************************************************

Call me a sore loser or whatever, I don't care, but MNC just isn't fun anymore.

    Why?

Well for starters, the match up system seems to be completely broken these days, matching you up with absolute beginners against a full team of 90+ players... It can be as painfull as 1 lvl 60 and a level 1 against 3 lvl 99's + a lvl 30... That's just no fun at all... Even if you are at the "good" side of the game, things are not getting exciting: or the other team quits or it is over in a matter of seconds, leaving you with an empty feeling as your own contribution was almost nihil. Both ways: NO FUN at all.

MNC seems incapable of matching you up with players of your own skill level and that is a shame. It has become such a problem that, even as a former MNC fan, I have become disgusted by the game I used to love. Gone are the days you got exciting games where the tide seemed to turn every second. Now your *** gets kicked instantly, or you win instantly, depending on the the tantrums the matchup system trows at you... sad!

It's great MNC gets the hardcore fanbase it deserves, as it is one of the best games I (used to at least) played this year. But if you are a player that used to enjoy 1 or 2 sessions a week, just for fun, or if you are new to the game, the game rewards you with utter frustration...

MNC, rest in peace. I will remember the good times we had and I will try to forget the horrors the malignant tumour that corrupted you has sprung forth...

    1. It's the party system doing what it's supposed to be doing, people are starting clans. This is a good thing.

    2. See above.

    3.It's not that hard...or maybe I'm just a natural :0

I'm glad the party system works... only not in combination with the match-up system.

Moreover, if you take SSFIV (beit not a coop game), you allways get the chance on a fair game, not so anymore in mnc.

My point being: whether you like it hot (pro level) or not (casual), you should be able to enjoy the game on any level...

I'm not a natural and I'm not hardcore but I loved MNC beacuse of all the fun it could give and I admit that the small investment that was MNC was worth any penny... I'm just left with a sore ending, where there could have been a gentler way of ending my MNC history.

Re: When MNC used to be fun

If you start a clan and play pub matches you're going to want to be on the same team

SF isn't a multiplayer/shooter/tower defense game. Besides this game has a to small community for matchmaking like that. Just get better and your problem will be over with.

I agree, but plenty of shooters have bad matchmaking. Take COD for example. albeit there are some cheaters/exploiters, it doesn't make the game.

It's because the metagame evolves. This happens. It's a good thing.

I agree with you for the most part, and this is coming from someone who usually parties with players like Street, Mouse, Skizzy, and Chaos. Pub stomping is great for stress relief but finding a game where the sides are fairly well balanced is nearly impossible. Sure there's the old standbye "THEY'RE PARTIED UP DURRR", but think about it for a second. You think there's only one party of people playing MNC in the world at a time? I know from personal experience that's completely false. So, the matchmaking system should take say a party of six people and match it up against another party of six people. Or, if it can't find another party of six people, two parties of 3 each, or a party of four and a party of six. You get where I'm going with this. Left 4 Dead has a feature which allows you to match up your party against another party. I think this is useful feature for MNC because it allows you to find challenging games when you want to, or just pub stomp when you want to.

    Aside:
PLEASE STOP THE SPLITTING OF PARTIES. They said the update would fix that. Well, it really, really didn't.

I play too many games where I play against 99s and have fun games, then teams switch and I'm teaming with a bunch of 99s that I want to play against.. and it sticks like that... forever. It's really annoying.. it happens too much.

I refrain from juicing unless I get split from my team and go out to hunt them, the other team needs their juice countered or we seem to be losing. I won't juice if players are all stuck in their base (unless getting them into their base was hard-fought) I put all my money into turrets now, plus as a gunner I actually buy more than just my miniguns.

I wish more people did the same, at least in situations where they're dominant. The team balance issue wouldn't be too bad then. I don't mind getting killed out in the field; if I'm able to wander out of my base and fight then I'm having fun. When I spend a whole 10 mins locked in my base with people kill-farming.... not fun.

Again, I won't say that everyone has to agree with what i call fun, I just don't see the fun in utterly dominating the opposition. When I'm on a team with some 99s versus a team with no one over 50, it's time to play a weird class setup or buy skills I wouldn't normally buy.

    Good point!

At least, that's a sporty way of handling with the imbalance.

he is partially right :| . tell me one time you had sex that was amazing because one side did all the work and it was over in 45 seconds  ... yyyeeahhhhh  ....

needs more balance. it would be less painful to split up the player base than to leave it like it is and LOSE the playerbase...

no, that is a generic comparison. you know the game would be more fun if it was harder for a team to just steamroll...

Re: When MNC used to be fun

Without question i was just adding on to the joke. I usually end up on the wrong end of a steamrolling because all of my friends abandoned MNC and being a lone soldier is not easy a little more level balance would be nice
I'm tired of being in a lobby with like eight 99's and then 4 low level newer players and getting put on the low level team. Even when I'm on the high level team i feel like I'm ruining the game for people who are just getting into it

Re: When MNC used to be fun

    Completely wrong.

I'm 99 and almost always play solo, yet I always end up getting placed on teams with other high rank players against a bunch of low ranks. The other 90+ guys are often playing solo also.

Team balance is broken/non existant and needs fixing. I have no doubt it's responsible for MNC losing players to other games.

Re: When MNC used to be fun

If this doesn't get fixed the player base will be gone. Ten of my friends have stopped playing because its no longer enjoyable. So the devs have 2 choices, 1 stop this problem and let it be on its merry way or 2 leave it alone and lose all hope of saving the player base. I hope they do the first one. Also it can be done without splitting the player base. For example my idea was to have it so the game tried to match high ranking teams/players with high ranking teams/players.

Bro, it depends on who is doing those 45 seconds of work, and who is laying back... I'm jus' sayin'.

Re: When MNC used to be fun

As a player that spent almost all of my time playing without a group I did notice the matchmaking to be a little silly in one aspect- it would always seem to move me to the "good team" after a few matches. Which is to say, I join a lobby and the other team is 3-4 99s with the rest seeming to be random players. I play a match or two on the opposite side- usually pushing the game into overtime, then it moves me to the team with the other 99s and we win in 2 minutes until the host leaves. It seems that can't be working as intended.

Re: When MNC used to be fun

i do wish they would find something to either close the skill-gap between experienced player and new players (which causes experienced players to win in 45 seconds), or balance teams (where experienced players can play other experienced players, also preventing 45 second games of juice-chaining and lack of fun for anybody)

But you can't do that without splitting the community.

Even though the community is already split.

I agree completely. That's when I play a class I don't normally play much, or try out a different strat.

I think the fact that there are only 4 maps plays a role in this trend too. In any game, once you really master the maps you have a huge edge. I'm looking forward to Spunky Cola arena any time now. :D I hope there are more new maps to follow too!
