1) space combat: imagine being able to build ports in the orbits of the planets to build different types of ships. logically the ships can not go beyond the orbits of the planets and need to be replenished trammite small space stations (from energy). to carry the manufacturers or units of other planets using special units of cargo that may go beyond the orbit of a planet. Cargo to transport persons, military units a colonizing to colonize empty planets bomber heavy fighter black Death battleship Espionage Probe locicamente each unit has its own characteristics: for example, a black death will be much slower but also much more powerful than any other unit, is capable of destroying asteroids and moons. 2) dome shield for protection from spaceships and "threats from the ground" 3) guns specialize in the defense of spaceships 4) more factions at least 2 more at the end then there would be two things in space combat and more units hope in the fifth goal

It would be like creating a whole new game (so I think they would need at least $500k for that; not something we could reach in time), and the mechanics would be too different from each other, confusing the daylights out of all players who don't want to put a lot of time into figuring everything out.

Re: What is missing in PA Back to the topic at hand, I think that to do spaceships sufficient justice would require a very different UI scheme than one that can be used for normal units and so I don't think its a great idea. The transport could be done because you just say go here (To this other planet)
Re: What is missing in PA I can support a form of transportation for planetary movement and some orbital structures. Anything more and it will begin to make the game more complicated than fun.
Re: What is missing in PA you'll need some thing to combat the orbital units to establish a foot hold on occupied planets, but I think the range you propose is excessive i was thinking ransport, plus 1-2 support ships of tech level 2 and 3. with powerful space ships you might make the ground/in atmosphere units redundant in the end game.

Re: What is missing in PA It's because spaceships would have to move in 3D. Transport ships don't. You can just click on a planet and have it fly directly to it. No complications. There is no way you can use the same interface to move in 3D space (outer space) as in 2D space (planet "surface").

Re: What is missing in PA I know we can't have 3D combat in deep space, but is there any reason we can't have spaceships fighting around planets? That's how MoO and many other 4X games does it. No fighting in interstellar space, every battle takes place in orbit.
