    Generally i do Yellow so my guys stand out on the radar/massive brawl.

    Only in single player.

    In multi, i usually go for grey/brown.
    some kind of dull colour that doesn't stand out, so that they look less threatening on the other dudes radar.

    Ah this topic proves quite useful for a point I wanted to make!

    IMO colours need variants, depending on the commander allegiance.

    I point to transformers, and the variations of colours used for Autobots and Decepticons.

    For example while Sunstreaker and Swindle were both yellow transformers, they had subtly different tones and the same was mostly true for both the factions.

    One thing this would help, is that upon seeing an army and recognising the colour, you'd have an idea of what kind of commander you might encounter and the faction they belong to...

    I used to play red, but when a friend of mine kept picking it too for online games, i switched to orange.

    Now it's orange all the way!

    Also, yea we need 256 team colors now :p

    How about allowing the player to pick two colours? Like one primary and one secondary colour. The map icons would be colored with the primary colour and have the secondary colour as outline. That would allow much more colour combinations and a more unique set of colours!

    I like that idea. It reminds me of how color system worked back in Homeworld. Main and stripe color.

    Cyan / Turquoise :D

    also, certain colors may impede visibility, especially very dark colors, something that should be kept in mind.

    Also a friend/foe color system would be a good option to have, especially when the scheme accounts for colorblind people.

    but for 1v1 ladder games blue/red would be the best i think(Tournament colors in like every sport)
