Why did they make them so powerful? Snipes from very far away, if you try to get close to him to take him out, his smg and/or flak and/or trap will get you at mid-ish range, and if you get close, not only will he freeze you, he'll take ALL your skills, including grapple and sword dash, then he'll either take his time shooting you in the head, or walk up to you without a care and grapple you and kill you in one shot, or ring you out. hell, sniper on this don't even have to have the slightest bit of skill. oh, missed him, good thing my bullets EXPLODE! >_> hehe, i'll just sit all the way back here and demolish their turrets with my exploding bullets that i can fire fast as hell
Breathe, man. One at a time. They snipe because they're Snipers, the SMG's magazine size and accuracy is garbage, traps can be seen, destroyed, or avoided. Unlike most pros with effective grapples, Snipers have to spend money to improve theirs. Money. Money that doesn't do ANYTHING but improve their grapple. That's $550 spent on something only useful in an extremely limited number of situations. I'd say they deserve the kill when you step in a trap and they get to use that wasted money on your face. The sniper rifle doesn't penetrate or splash by default, penetration costs $150 and splash damage costs another $400. That's $150 that's only effective when the enemies line up for you, and splash damage that only triggers when they actually hit a target. If you're hiding just around a corner, right next to a bot or turret that they can hit to trigger splash damage, it's hardly their fault for taking the shot. Oh, and the sniper rifle's rate of fire is due in no small part to the rof endorsements snipers tend to use. Which any other class also has access to. Those endorsements also take up a slot that could be used for, say, armor. And from that remark about turrets, I can assume that you've been playing a lot of Steel Peel lately. So in reality, this thread could be condensed to "Steel Peel blows." Sound good?
i like steel peel and i dont play sniper alot i play asassin alot and snipers only kills me sometimes and sometimes i can afford juice but only if i wait with some upgrades and then i can sometimes kill turetts
Please tell me this magical way of destroying a freeze trap as an assassin? maxed out they can place three of them, and if it's a "Good" (Trying not to laugh) Sniper they'll place them really close to walls or whatever to make them barely visible, and start jumping around the instant the hear it go off, because it's IMPOSSIBLE to grab someone who is jumping around especially if you throw lag into the mix, hell it's impossible to grapple someone floating a milimeter off the ground >_>
It's true, if you set 3 traps around you there really isn't much an assassin can do... I recommend smoke jumping right behind them. They usually don't notice anything when they are scoped.
Most of the time they'll be standing on a trap, but yeah. So long as their traps are only level 2 you can just drop right into one and grapple them. If their traps ARE level 3, catch them off-guard with the shuriken launcher from close range. It'll kill an unarmored Sniper before he realizes he's being shot at.
It's actually not possible at all to grapple any player who is flying (floating) around. It says so in game during the "Pro Tips" on loading screens.
I've heard devs tell people that sniper traps can be destroyed but I've never seen it done. I play the assault or sniper primarily and no one has ever destroyed my traps nor have I ever managed to destroy theirs. It doesn't matter how close I can place the remote bomb, the trap is simply unaffected, and the same goes for people trying to destroy mine (assuming they were trying to, and not simply trying to blow me up).
I know it says it in the protips, i just don't understand the logic in not being able to grapple a stationary assault thats just barely got his feet off of the ground
Yeah but what I'm saying is that I've tried several times with no affect, the sniper's trap will be well within the range of my bomb but when I detonate it nothing happens (besides the explosion). The game doesn't actually track your height, it just renders you differently when you're falling/flying and recognizes that in those instances you cannot be grappled. Actually, if that were true then how is falling damage calculated?
Yea don't quote me on that one. I have yet to test it myself I've just heard it from various users here at UberEnt. I've just been jumping over them since I've been playing Tank lately.
Are you trying to play mind games with me? If so I will level 3 Charge grapple you and get a ring out!! "I love what you do!" :ugeek:
btw.. what r u on? Spending 550$ on grapple? Since when do snipers do this?! All you need to do is spend 150$ to get the throw, which is all that the sniper needs.. any smart sniper would not fully upgrade their grapple, its pointless. Which my opinion the throw should be Level 3 like every other class.
Sniper is the one class that doesnt really have a counter. Am i right? Assassin a little bit, but good snipers can easily kill any assassin.. So no counter for a Sniper..
