Hey Guys My first Action RTS was TA. And i Must Say I am missing one Fact in all today's RTS Games: The beachhead. In nearly all today's RTS Games its completely useless or unnecessary to built beachheads. Why? 1. to many Aircraft's and no proper Defense Options. 2. To many amphibious Vehicles 3. Artillery with unlimited Range. (as Nuclear Rockets ...) ... and so on. In TA there was the 7 Isles Map, I loved this one. If you built a good air Defense (Rocket an Lasers, later Flak) it was quite Impossible to attack the Islands with Aircraft. You had to blow a beachhead with Naval Units and then Land with as many Ground units as Possible. And this was only possible with Transport-Ships which were a very god Target to enemies Artillery and Aircraft. I totally miss that. I also Like to think about some Limits to Aircraft Unit.. as for example fuel Cap. This wasn't in TA but it introduces some more tactics. Just my few thought about Planetary Annihilation. (Backed with 115$)
Yup, agreed... (though I'm sure some expert players could win games like this through rushing, but I'm not an expert on competitive MP) I just liked that TA really let you play the game your way. That, and the huge amount of custom-made units and maps that were available.
