Java is a great style of dance .... a true artform... but that's off topic  it's also a great language that I'm having a blast (as downlord's aid) re-creating a modern, fast, feature filled and highly improved FAF client-side only lobby (that connect to the same current FAF server, so no community splitting) with.

I'd like to have your opinion on some UI choices as the public is always right in terms of UI : if john doe can use it then everyone can.

    the choices revolve around :
    • the utility of the division ladder (when the ladder list has the most representative data and is the most used. We've already finished implementing it by the way and it is GLORIOUS)
    • the preferred integration of a settings window : accessible through single-click on an icon visible from anywhere or inside a drop down menu
    • the embedding of this settings window as an overlay on the app or a new, entirely separate window
    • and the preferred look of sub-tabs.
Don't hesitate to vote right here for one second ! :
The first choice is always the picture. I have no other means of embedding pictures into polls.

Question One : do we make a "ladder by rank" (considering we already made ladder by rating and maps) or is there no reason to bother at all?

Question Two : the look of tabs
    http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=55 ... ee8d47a6c2

Question Three : how would you like settings to be accessed?
    http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=55 ... ee8d47a6ce

Question Four : Overlay or Popout window for settings?
    http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=55 ... ee8d47a70e

Question Five : the look and feel of the settings :

I can't spoil any more than this as of right now, but trust me it already leaves the current FAF lobby in the dust with it's current features. :D

having a lot of fun with this. :) Hope you looks forward to seeing my and downlord's new lobby as much as I do!

Java is a terrible codesink, but if it is good anywhere, it is a launcher. Even then, I'd wash my hair and brush my teeth with atomshell, it shines given the right community support.

But yeah, java is the way to go. The important thing though, is features people want. I used to use a runescape client that used java, because it had an easy to use calculator for xp and such on the side. The game should have that, but a client around it would suffice.

I wish you the best of luck on your coding adventure.

May your bugfixes slay more bugs than they create.

I updated the polls, people were complaining about readability.
