Personally, I use it because if I really need to not have a grapple with it, I just tap y right before I charge and it won't grapple anyone and function as a normal charge.

I use Charge 3 every so often as well, mainly because it's a possible Ring-out, helpful against CCing Juicers, and (of course) for protags. I rarely have a problem with getting killed during the animation, but it does happen, which can be annoying. However, my suggestion for that is to use your bomb near enemies instead. Works out fairly well for me.

FYI, I still think charge 2 is better, but Charge 3 most definitely has its uses, too.

But you can make charge 3 a faster recharging charge 2 by just using fly right before it.

I was actually talking to someone about this last night. Charge 3 retains the knockback ability of charge 2, but does drastically less damage without the grapple, so there actually is a trade off when it comes to charge 3.

I like charge 3 if I have the money. I don't really care about being vulnerable for a couple seconds because it makes for great crowd control of juiced players. I'd rather die and mitigate a juiced player than live and let that juicer put damage on turrets/moneyball.

I'll get it if there is a bunch of skinny pros (assassins and snipers) on the enemy team. But I hate that the assault sits still for about 3 seconds while he's doing the uppercut.

charge 3 only has about 5 feet of knockback in the instance of flying into the charge, and does almost no damage.

It's kind of a feel-good thing for me personally. It's animation very dramatic, so any kill attained with it feels pretty good.

I like to think it's worth it to upgrade. Paired with the increased recharge time and the Grapple, it seems pretty good. Though as already stated it's only really useful against 1v1. Still, for the people who say they use their Charge against a group of Blackjacks trying to kill someone, I can't really see how that makes too much sense of other getting a single kill. You have a Grenade Launcher made for clustered enemies, such as a small band of Blackjacks, so use it on them. The Launcher would force him out of his Bot's cover if not destroy the Bots outright, and since he is in the open, Grapple Kill him for $50. Granted though, if you had a LVL 2 Charge, you could of just rush through them and killed him right there, but that isn't much of a bigger bonus. If he gets away, not a huge deal. That means you kill his Bots and you push yours in, and then tube his Turrets while they are distracted on the Bots you pushed in while he is trying to push them back. The LVL 2 Charge is good, but I still think LVL 3 is still better. If you wanted anti-group tactics, use the Grenade Launcher and Bombs, not just a LVL 2 Charge.

why do you post the same technical detail in any thread that offers advice that wanders away from your "on paper its better" and "according to the numbers" attitude, Tom?

and why does someone always come along and quote it like what you said really does make a skill gap a mile wide between the two?

its pretty much the bottom line that uber will probably fix charge-grapple in sequels to be voluntary, maybe patch it in this game so charge3 from the air does charge2 damage, and that charge 3 currently probably gets more kills than charge 2, albeit getting you killed maybe a time or two more.

bottom line=charge3 is for people wanting to properly deal with key targets, charge2 is for people wanting to avoid getting killed at all costs for 20 games straight.

maybe my judgement is clouded by the absolute hate i have for a killstreak system in general. hell, i even rather dislike notestreaks in guitar hero, the only way a lot of people can beat me is with a strum-hard song, which makes me choose epic fret-hard songs.

i post this because when people say "just fly and you wont grab them" it is only 1/4 true. it doesnt grab them, bu it doesnt do anything. im not against charge 3, i have started buying it and am more and more liking it.

at least i think that answers your question.

I use charge 2 to finish kills or to damage people but i think charge 3 is cheap when people dont even shoot at you they just see you and press b, as cheap as it is i will use it if i have boring juice chainers on the other team or more than 2 assassins.

Im not against it i just think that some people rely on it for easy kills, if you are gonna use it on me at least have the decency to shoot me a little first ;)

Last I tested, the most damage it can do is head stomp damage. Otherwise, it does none.

    As I've said before:

I'd rather stick my **** in a blender than to use Charge 3.

But seriously, I'll upgrade to it in OT if I have excess cash and can't

    1) Upgrade turrets
    2) Buy Juice
    3) Use the annihilator
