Now that we have moved from playing on just 1 planet to multiple fields, it is becoming very apparent (just to me?) that keeping tract of all your bases on many planets is going to be hard. Just playing with 2, returning from setting up my base on the second planet to my main base on the 1st to find it half gone..... no warning at all. So an idea I had was that of warning towers. You can set them up were you want to be notified of enemy activity. If an enemy moves within range it would sound a warning, maybe bring up an icon for you to click on to take you to that location.
First objection: Don't tie necessery UI function to in game mechanics. Ie. I don't want to only get warnings when I set up towers. Second objection: Warnings in a game of such scale will quickly get overwhelming. Especially playing a sound considering that a few dozen patrolling scouts can set them off in very quick succession. In general I agree with you that the current UI is woefully inadequate, I doubt though that warnings will be sufficient. It needs a whole new class of UI to make this game managable and not the APM spam its atm.
Uber is working on an overhaul to the notification system. I agree that something will need to be done about notifications, but making it so we only receive notifications if there's that certain tower is not the answer. In the meantime, have patrolling groups of Fireflies or have radar coverage.
TA had text notifications, I imagine they're trying to bring that system back in some way. The other thing I'd like is a notification in the system view what planet your units are on.
What I want is for the camera anchors to work across multiple planets. Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be a bug in the current build where setting camera anchors only works on the starting planet.
You know what would be nice, if it gave a warning in a box somewhere on the screen, sorted by planet, and you could click on it and it would center your map where the warning was. That way you could go through them quickly
