I don't know if it would take too much away from development but what about the idea of a reoccurring video blog covering the development of the game and answering fan questions?

I liked the Kings and Castles Video blog alot.
It doesn't have to be big. Just make a 1min video without much fancy editing once every 1 or 2 weeks and show what you are working on. Maybe only for backers, if you are afraid for "we dont want to show terribly unfinished things to potential customers"-reasons.

Yep they were great. I certainly wouldn't mind something similar.

Yeah, I was really sad when they stopped. I'd love to see them for this game.

However, them opening up too much of the development might scare off people midway.

I loved the K&C videoblogs, would totally appreciate it.

At the same time as a company, don't know. K&C blogs were much appreciated, but lots of people still did not get it. Complaining about the bad graphics, textures, animations...

I don't know about video blogs specifically, but weekly dev updates in a blog will probably be needed to satiate the masses.

Agreed, the K&C blog was fun, and it was really interesting to see things take shape.
Given how open the dev has been already and with crowd sourced funding, it would be really cool to see that attitude carried through til release (and to the DLC and sequel). All you need to do now is release it under a Creative Commons licence and Uber will be a poster child for modern creative development. :p

I would too. The Vlogs we have gotten for the kickstarter are awesome by the way.

Only if there are no less than three Scathis faces hidden in each one.

I'm not sure if I like video blogs - they're flashy, yes, but they're also not terribly informative. And Chris Taylor came across as an idiot.

A blog on the technology and progress of the game would be awesome tho.

It would calm me down while impatiently waiting for the alpha release.

Definitely! Super excited for the game and I'd love to see the process behind it's creation. Also gives a better platform for feedback IMO, if we can see the it as it's being done.

As others have said, it will also help alleviate some of the "waiting pains" until alpha comes rolling around. :p

Agreed, I for one find textual versions, enhanced with images if the topic supports it, far more efficient than a video of someone talking about that stuff. Sure, there are some topic where a video replaces unneccessary written explanations, but currently there is trend to videofy anything even if it takes longer to produce and longer to take in than a few lines of text.
