Utility Units

    TA and a few other games were pretty good for utility units, units that had little to no offensive capabilities on their own but were excellent force multipliers, or where just useful. Some original and expanded TA ones that I can remember were: Spider Kbots (which paralysed other units), Radar bots/vehicles/planes, radar jammers, stealth/cloaked scouts, the F.A.R.K. (Fast Assist and Repair Kbot) and a Mine Layer. I'm sure I've missed a few, but what would some others like to see, and what would Uber consider implementing?

    I'd love to see the the return of the spider kbot myself, I rather liked that crawly thing.

    A bulldozer like unit would be neat, something that could ram an enemy to knock them out of position, or cluster enemies together to increase the effectiveness of AoE. After I type this I remember that Homeworld: Cataclysm had a unit like this, so much for originality :(

    Crawling mines, basically a suicide unit (I know not strictly utility, but outside the normal pew pew basics)

    Units with increased sight range. Handy if, like TA, most units can shoot farther than they can see.

    Fog of war dispenser, something that hinders visual sighting (like a smoke grenade launcher or something)

    Holographic projection, a unit that can project multiple "illusion" units, which could make for some interesting feints.

    A few more ideas:

    Slug, leaves trails of enemy slowing slime in it's wake

    Goober, throws balls of gunk at enemies slowing movement, rate of fire or tracking speed

    Firestarter- lobs balls of flaming napalm that leave an area of enemy burning flames.

    Gravity bomber - drops gravity bombs, that could draw multiple units together, or, slow all unites near detonation, or increase gravity of local area affecting missiles, flight, artillery and such.

    Riot Shielder- a tough defensive unit that draws fire and blocks line of sight attacks, a tough but visible spotter, back side is weak, front side is very tough.

    These are a few ideas, who else is up for brain storming. One rule: you gotta be able to explain the unit in 3 lines or less. No walls of text for a single unit.

    I'd like a bulldozer that can plow through wreckages to clear the way for smaller units, although this could also be integrated into heavy tanks by default.

    Smoke grenades sound pretty cool.

    I liked C&C Generals' ECM tank which randomly redirected incoming missiles to the surrounding area.
