With more and more hardware specs being released, policy changes, and services announced, where does everyone stand now on this debate? I personally believe buying a Xbox 360 was a mistake to begin with, but have stuck with it. Xbox has made a few policy changes I approve of since E3, but they would still have to completely remove that useless Kinect before they will see my open wallet. What is everyone else thinking so far?
honestly hands down the xbox 360 was and is the greatest system for me for the live arcade games alone. What other system other then ps3 can you have such a wide range of things to buy and dlc with it. I don't know about the next step for buying systems cause forking out another 600$ for a system and games and controller is a headache to me right now.
PC beats any console. It can do so much more than a console can and it has graphics console guys can only dream of. My current rig is already several times stronger than the upcoming xbox one and ps4 and thats only going to get worse as new hardware for pc comes out. Consoles wont be able to keep up at all. They are already weak now imagine in 2020 even low end laptops will beat the **** out of consoles. Personally i think the consoles are a waste of money. For 100-200 euros more you get a much more powerful gaming pc which can do many other things than gaming too. Best thing of all you can upgrade it while the consoles will always stay at a pathetic low level. There is a reason there are pc exclusives like star citizen. Consoles won't be able to run it decently.
There is a reason consoles exist. People would have bought a Atari, but not a card slot dos computer. People will spend money for games you can use with a common tv, watch shows off of with an average remote control, play games from your couch with a device you can comfortably rest on your lap, and is hard locked against other people playing against you with faster better hardware and assist programs. I am going pc, but i will probably put down all competitive aaa shooters since it is just hackfest played by those with 2000 dollar rigs. I guess it is a mixed blessing anyway, i really dislike current shooter balance, and i need to go back to cooperative objective shooters anyway, like smnc, cc renegade, and tf2. I'll wait for gta5 on pc by playing gtasa rigged to a player server program. I know I'll have fun there, and that is what it is about.

No, i have inside experience. I see stuff in pc games, and i could tell you exactly how it is done. I have seen aim assists for renegade, smnc, cod, and client side file editing pushed into the values of the game mechanics in cod, renegade, and tf2. Just because there is vac and anticheats don't mean anything, they are only used because there are so many cheats to fight. The rich kid hardware advantage issue still stands as well. I'd probably not play cod again on the pc, i would barely risk playing fall of cybertron mainly because their forums are filled with complaining about hackers in the pc/ps3 ports.
I play games on pc just fine. You dont need some crazy expensive computer to play at 60 fps. My pc costs around 1000 euro and it plays everything on max at 2560x1440 with +60 fps. This is with hardware thats around a year old before the next gen consoles come out. The cpu is actualy even older i still got a i5 760. The trick is to build your own system its much more fun and you save alot of money. It isnt hard either. Never buy a prebuild pc they have crazy profit margins on them and you never get the components you actualy want. I honestly dont know why console ppl think pc is a hackfest. In the rare occasion you meet a hacker he either gets banned or kicked from the game. You can always just go to a different server if that doesnt work for whatever reason. It really is no big deal.
An expensive PC won't help if you suck XD My laptop is average at the best of times, and I've been playing SMNC at like 15-20fps since I started. Doesn't make me any worse at playing. again, I've personally pretty much never seen hackers in games on PC.
Here's what you do trophy: you learn how to edit config files and make fps configs for games. CoD is based on the Quake 3 engine, so set r_picmip 16, r_vertexlight 1, r_texturemode GL_NEAREST and turn down the resolution as low as you're comfortable with and boom, suddenly you have a stable 60+ fps. For UE3 games (aka everything else), use grimbar's fps config as a template. edit: did some quick research and it turns out they capped r_picmip at 4 in cod and you probably need to set r_picmip2 to 4 as well, because they split the cvar for some reason. Dumb fucks.
Just how old is your pc that it needs stuff like that? Even my old budget card managed to get 60 fps in most new games.
Not to mention that most games are better with lower graphics because then there's less pointless cosmetic stuff flying all over the screen.
Old, i need every bit of that to run smnc decently, i am upgrading though. Still, the guy that can see your outline better wins in cod, and with a console and a remotely modern television, everyone sees the same vision. Bigger television don't help, you can only see one maximum cone of vision ever, as long as the tv takes that up it is maximum. The fact you brought up ups configs proves the point, the tryhards will use every resource, from high reaction mouse and keyboards, to high end computer and modified software. I wouldn't dare play cod on it. I can handle drawn out fight games, but not split second death games against people with multiple tweaks to save every fraction of a second.
Console wont turn your old tv to a nice hd tv. Graphics dont really influence how good you play. Resolution a bit but for the most part its actualy better to play at lower graphics. What does matter is your fps. If 100ms is the difference between win or losing then you dont want half of that to be lost in your 20 fps. In fact my kd in planetside actualy went down when i bought my new monitor and graphics card. Why? Cuz i played at custom ultra graphics with all **** on and was only running at 30 fps.
I honestly just like the picmip 16 look for some reason. And what poiu said. In quake I turn down the gfx way low to reduce visual noise.
