Let´s discuss a bit about the sounds of units.

I am asking me which language the robots will speak.
Some sort of human language because they were build by humans (long time ago...) or robotish.

    Example:
Some sort of human language: Select the unit or give it an order to do

    "Yes"
    "What´s your wish"
    "What"
    "I do it"
    "Confirmend"
    "It should be done"

Robotish language: Select the unit or give it an order to do

well,i dont know how robotish sounds but its some sort of metalish sound i think

    :? "krrrrrrzzzzhhst"

Or other languages, what do you guys think?
Or no voice acting for units? That would be a very sad idea I think.

And it would be cool if there are some extra sounds like in The settlers 5.
There was a system in it that counts how often you select the unit.If the system is counting the 8th time than it play a sound like
"Stop asking me stupid questions" or something like that
Then it reset the number to 0 and the counter starts from scratch for this unit.

It would be funny if they all had bizarre personality's, like the characters in transformers.

But otherwise the TA driving sound and the like would remind me of the days of old!

ooh good point. I used to love all the funny things the CnC red alert characters said. Especially the tesla troopers.

Considering it's all robots in PA, I like the idea of just robot-speak sounds. Think Wall-E

As my third choice, I actually agree with Zordon.

Yet another thread we've already done. Seriously guys, I know the forum search sucks but google site:forums.uberent.com works just fine.

To repeat the conclusion from the previous thread - no voices, just subtle clicks and whirrs like TA and supcom. 'Clever' voiced stuff get really old, really fast, and voice acting is damn expensive. Spend the cash on more dev time instead.

Nothing funnier then "Rub her shoes in lotion".

And really recurring threads are just apart of forum life, no need to complain because otherwise you will have to say it 40 times.

Just link to it, or provide a summery of the opinions.

I usually just tune them out, or turn them off.

    You mean sorta like
I dunno about you, but that seems just a little bit like a summary of the opinions to me.
Because paying for expensive voice acting to add a feature people will either turn out or turn off entirely is a fantastic use of PA's limited budget.

    Subtle beeps/whirs according to role.

Basically, exactly like in SupCom. It was easy to tell when you selected the wrong units, and units were never cute/obnoxious.

2 million isn't limited by any stretch, especially as voice actors are a dime a dozen, even more so if you know people aren't going to care.

But that's besides the point when I agree with others in line of simplistic sounds or none at all.

Well, maybe we can add unit voices ourselves if Neutrino include this possibility.

Nope, no unit voices. It makes no sense in terms of the lore. Why would robotic beings speak in any language other than some form of binary?
