I have been playing this game since alpha and regret not saying anything earlier. For a few months now since alpha I have kind-of put off playing this game due to the fact that it seemed like units were too large in most aspects, especially at tier 2. I am a fan of rather lengthy RTS games such as supreme commander 1, which in my opinion balanced the scale of units nicely. In PA it feels like once I get to tier 2 i'm having a wrestling match for room within minutes, which having tier 2 factories the size of a planet doesn't really help. It would be nice if there was a option to have units scaled according to overall planet sizes within a solar system rather than having massively sized buildings with a scale 1 planet. As I stated I have really been put off by the game because of it. I also feel that I should bring up such a thing based on feeling that surely I am not the only person who feels that the scaling of units and buildings is far too large after tier 1. Also pardon my grammar, I tend to not concern myself with issues based on my typing for some odd reason when it comes to threads.
I agree, the scale is completely off. Especially when you remember the first scale test screenshots: http://www.uberent.com/pa/category/media/conceptart/ http://www.uberent.com/pa/2013/01/18/desert-biome-concepts/ http://www.uberent.com/pa/2013/01/23/unit-scale-render-tests/
Yep, the scale is out of whack. You will also probably find quite a few people who agree with you too. As Kmastaba and MrTBSC kindly pointed out though, there is a scale mega thread where this has been discussed pretty thoroughly and even has some input from the dev team in it. Although it is a bit of a slog, its a worth while read to get up to speed with the whole situation. If you don't fancy reading it, the jist is; the dev team can see the scale is off - but its lots of work to fix it. It's not totally out of the question, but highly unlikely to be implemented for the release version. To be honest with you, I don't think it will ever happen (just a feeling, I could be wrong) and it will always be an aspect I hate about PA if not. Oh well, onwards and upwards!
