I've played PA in the past, but had to get a new drive, and thus re-install PA. However, after I download and install the PA Launcher, I have issues. I run the link to open the game and in my taskbar the "UberLauncher" program shows up, it also shows in task manager as running. However it never loads.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit, and have updated my drivers. Any ideas? Any logs I can submit?

Please check my signature and upload your DxDiag.txt on forum.

Here's my DxDiag. I also checked the incompatible programs list to ensure I don't have any of those.

Your system looks fine, so it's not the issue, but I read your post again and see there is something suspicious.

Try to install it this way: download this package:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Then run it, extract to accessible directory, open this directory, find and run "DXSETUP.exe" installer.
After installation finished try to run launcher once again.

That got me in, to the launcher at least. It's patching now, thanks!

I'm still not sure why the packaged directx dll that's included with the launcher fails to work, though I am starting to see a pattern with windows 7, so I think there may be a library incompatibility problem between the dll I packaged in the installer against what windows 7 works with.

At any rate, it's my best guess yet, so I'll give it a shot and see if replacing the DLL makes the problem go away.

Had the same problem with a windows 8.1 fresh insall too, the launcher was running but without any window. Until I ran the DirectX web installer update (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35) and everything got fixed.

You should probably add DirectX as dependency to your installer, not just a bunch of dll.

It doesn't fix the problem. Trust me, already tried a dozen different ways, and including the specific DLL was the only way to solve it in most cases, but clearly not all. And if it broke for you on 8.1, then whatever's going on isn't what I thought.

Sadly, Microsoft has never setup a redist directx webinstaller package, which is unfortunate. Nothing else seems to properly fix the problem without bloating the installer to a few hundred megs. :/

I can say for sure same behaviour appear on Windows 8 too.
