Umbrellas not doing their job.

i was playing a game just a while ago. my moon base was under seige by scores of orbital units, but i had...lets say 7 Umbrellas in the vicinity just firing away.


but the orbitals still won. why?

the Umbrellas weren't actually hitting anything. they did not suffer a single casualty. and they were not even moving. how can a defensive ion cannon not hit a stationary target? is it perhaps the orbit of the planet throwing the projectile off course?

I'm assuming it's a bug and while a rather annoying one, still a bug. The accuracy will likely be tuned up in the coming patches. For now, I'd say rely more on orbital fighters to help protect you if you can. The unfortunate bit is, they don't automatically attack either, so you have to kind of micro those as well. Which I'm sure will be cleaned up as well. It is beta after all! Report what you might feel is a bug and hopefully someone can clarify for you!

i suppose it would be a bug of sorts. still, you'd think people would have gotten a little miffed by now...

we had a game tonight where a single umbrella effectively shot down two k-sats.

I built loads of umbrellas, they did nothing. Seriously..nothing.

I've run into this as well. the umbrella seems completely useless at this point.

I'll add that if it is working as intended, it should be buffed considerably.

Only if people would be using them and the current stats on the Umbrella, even if it would work, would preclude it from being a good idea to be built.

In other words, its a bad building and people don't complain since its useless anyway.

yes we got you!!!!!! Muhaha!!!!! I noticed your umbrella did nothing. But I have had them shoot down my laser before.... I wonder are they energy conscious??? Was your eco stalled??? I'm assuming it was since your main base was destroyed maybe that's the issue no energy no fire

if it was no sight, that's wrong: umbrellas should get orbital radar into their AOE, or a land based orbital radar tool with limited AOE should be available.

it was a nice ten player game five teams started on a class 3 lava. Was very intense for the first thirty or so!!!!

Idk if they should get an independent radar as ground radar does highlight orbiting units.....

I did not know that. Ok then they do not need their own radar in that case.
