I'd love to get this game on the PC, but the Unreal engine doesn't work at all on my PC. Are xbox owners going to get any disadvantages like TF2 got when the class updates came out or are they going to be equal? (I'm talking about content, so things like map editors are fine but I don't want PC-only patches and DLCs.) Don't pull a TF2 on this one, Uber!
We're going to do the best we can. The two platforms are very different and have vastly different ways to go about getting updates done.
This has been mentioned in at least a couple of other threads, but.. 1. On Steam, they can release updates whenever/however they want. 2. On 360, they have to go through Microsoft, and we've seen how that works out (long certification delays). Someone even mentioned that Microsoft only allows a limited number of free updates. So if the updates aren't equal between platforms, it's not necessarily by Uber's choice.
Not at all, since your concern is with the XBox part. EDIT: Oh and TF2 didn't "pull" it. It's all Microsoft fault for not wanting to give free patches.
1: I'm asking about the rate of updates this game will get. I wouldn't ask this in the Xbox section because my question is "will THIS PC port overtake the other game in updates?" How is that unrelated? HOW? 2: Valve wanted to release a lot of updates before checking if M$ would accept it. That's the mistake I'm referencing too - I'm asking if DLC is going to be multi platform (official answer is "we'll try"), that's all.
1. "Are xbox owners going to" Your own post, I think I don't need to say again why I feel this is at the wrong end of the discussion. 2. Fine, it's still Microsoft fault anyhow? In the end it's their decision that darkens the support.
Unless Uber decides to wait a really long time to get patches out for the 360 and PC simultaneously then no, I'm pretty sure the PC version will receive faster updates. Steam is a better platform than Live for rolling out updates for developers.
I'm fine with it coming quicker, but using TF2 as an example is good for this question - it overtook the xbox so much it couldn't catch up at all. As long as they both eventually get this content I'll be fine.
Uber says they have plans for 2 more big DLC updates after Spunky Cola. We'll see. Uber can quickly patch little things with Steam. They have to compact all those little things together for Microsoft for larger patches because everything needs to go through the Live QA team.
the funny thing is im pretty sure UBER can keep a promise but this is probably going to happen sadly -_-
I would expect the DLC will be paid DLC on the Xbox from this point on. Microsoft really hates free DLC and free updates. PC will most definitely get updates more frequently and get DLC first. Remember how Microsoft made them wait months for the first title update? It is still Microsoft's fault. The policies on the Xbox discourage that kind of excellent support for games.
Also remember that the PC version and the Xbox version are two different games. Making a fix for both versions is not a trivial thing.
Here's a tip from me to you, since I've been here for quite some time now. Nobody likes the "Forum Nazi." Do you really need to get off-topic by arguing if this is in the relevant section or not? If the mods/Devs. decided that any thread is in the wrong location they will simply move it to the right location. Easy. Done deal.
Right Scathis, but we all know its easier to patch a PC game through Steam than it is an Arcade game through Live.
Probably because it's not the first time I see it? I don't know about you but I like to keep things tidy. Anyhow the title of this thread doesn't help at all either, as you can see; so you might want to start from there Mr. Nazi. /offtopic and thanks for reading me.
