I was wondering if you would consider making the first MNC free to play to try and boost the community around SMNC ??? I tried to play this week and they were barely 5-6 server with players. I have no idea how much income you still get from the PC version but by looking at the numbers of players it most not be significant. You may want to get the games out for everyone to enjoy before SMNC.
I'm not sure that's the best idea, considering SMNC is a considerably different game. That, and every burst of new players has been stomped to death by veterans. Those that survived left from "boredom". I don't think people want to be imprinted with "The F2P sequel of that game you get pwned in". Probably better to get development under way, and up to 2 months before release, ADVERTISE THE **** OUT OF IT. I'm guessing TV advertisement is expensive - even TF2 didn't do that - but thankfully you have strong word of mouth. My recommendation? Look at what Global Agenda did to advertise, those guys ended up very well off. You would be surprised how many people you can reel in from wiki advertisements.
At this point, since most of the "veterans" have left, if you could get a significant influx of new players for the most part they would be on level ground.
This is dumb. They have no framework to otherwise make any money from the original MNC. They'd just be throwing potential money down the hole.
I would imagine that what they'll do soon is just heavily discount it down to $4.99 or something similar.
If it becomes F2P, it's literally just free-to-play. They have no more means of income through MNC. This is just my thought and is not true at all: depending on how successful SMNC is, MNC might be more accessible in those ways.
hmm... are they even getting income from new players? i mean, there is no sense in even doing a discount for this since the next one is free. perhaps is in their best interest to make this free now as it might lure in new players for the next version
It will be the same thing that happened with the free weekends. The older players will come back in droves to stomp the new players, and all of them will quit the game thinking that getting smashed into the ground repeatedly is the only experience this game has to offer. Either that or it will be a mindless droll where no one knows what to do and the match never ends.
You're forgetting MNC is still sold only through Steam. Trying to sell it for nothing would almost certainly mean Uber would lose money due to the percentage cut Valve gets for every game sold through it.
"C'mon team push!" "You know what screw this TF2 rippoff" "This is why this TF2 clone failed" "**** this **** my team sucks, I give up on this game"
