Type sensitive Selection Boxes

I posted the following in the FAF forums already, but then I realized this could be even more important for PA, as there is yet one more unit layer (oribital):

What has always bothered me in SupCom, is the fact, that you cannot easily select only air units or only land units with a selection box, when the air and land units in question are occupying the same 2d space. You always have to either double click all the units types you want or select all via the selection box and then manually deselect the unit types in your selection overview. What hypothetical functionality I have in mind is holding down some key and while doing so drawing the selection box. Say Shift + Y makes the selection box air only, Shift + X makes it land only and Shift + C makes it naval only.

So, in PA to have something like this might be even more useful than it could be in SupCom.

Yea, good point, I forgot that one.

How about this. You select all the units. Units that are selected are shown down the side with both there name and quantity. From there you can either click on the unit type you want, or Ctrl + click on the units you don't want. You could also add further filters such as air, land, sea, and fabbers.

I would love something like that to be in the game. It would also be useful for finding out how large your army is.

I don't understand what you have in mind and how this second part goes together with the frist. Can you elaborate?

OK, I wasn't very clear.

You drag your box and select units like normal. Then at the side a list of all the units selected show up. It would look something like this.

Vehicle 32

• Ant 23
• Leveler 3
• Sheller 4
• Skitter 2

Fabricators 38

• Commander 1
  
• Advanced Fabrication Vehicle 2
• Fabrication Vehicle 23
• Fabrication Bot 12

You could click on the Ants and select all the Ants. Or you could Ctrl + click the Ants and be left with everything that is not an Ant.

You could also click on Vehicles and be left with all the Vehicles. Or you could Ctrl + click the Fabricators and deselect the Fabricators.

I hope that makes it a bit more clear.

that actually exists in FA you can box select just air, just land or just navy (including I think experimantals of each category) use Hotbuild Mod. Just like GAZui i's one of those essentials that if you're not using, you're missing out on the game.
