So I just got my X11s today after owning the X1s for a year and a half, and I thought I'd write a review for people thinking about getting them. First of all, they are much more comfortable. The X1s would hurt my ears after a while, but the X11s go around my ears and the cups are made of mesh. The X11s also allow you to hear yourself too, so you aren't yelling if the game is loud. The jack that plugs into the controller on the X11 is a 2.5mm instead of the puck, so it works with any controller. The sound on the X11 has much less bass, which I don't think is a good thing. It isn't a bad thing because the sound quality is still good and I can hear everything, but I prefer the added bass on the X1. Overall, I prefer the X11 because of the comfort and the versatility with other controllers.
Thanks for the review. I've been considering getting a new headset just because I don't like the wired set up on the X1's but the sound quality is amazing for the price I paid. I've played with X1's since COD4, and they've never let me down quality wise, though I do find myself needing to take a break to take the weight off my ears. Any others you would recommend? I might actually have some cash to spend on gaming if this job comes through.
I know X31s are the same thing, but wireless. It's just 1 wire going from the headset to the controller. Tritton AX720s have the best sound quality of any headset, but break very easily because of the detachable boom mic. Astro A40s are the best headset for gaming period, but they cost around $200. Honestly the X11s ($50-$60) or X31s($90-$100) are the best headset for the price and the best value, but if you were rich and didn't need the money, or you felt you'd be winning money from tournaments to pay for them then you should get Astros. The only game it really makes a difference in is CoD though.
I am loving my X31s I got last week, although I don't have much to compare them to. I can say that I haven't had any interference in the phones unless I wander too far from the transmitter or my cell phone is too close. EDIT: Also, I have wireless internet.
How long have you had them? I hear they usually break after 2 months or so. Obviously there are exceptions, but could some other Tritton users post on this thread and leave some feedback?
I've heard nothing but good things about the Turtle Beach HPX-1 headset. The only problem being you have to buy the Astro Mixamp to use it with the Xbox. I've never done it because together they are very expensive, around $200. I just haven't had that much extra cash, myself. I only really know of them because I used to go onto the MLG forums quite often, and they rated the HPX-1's over the Astro's every time.
Right now, I don't really use them because I can hear all the MNC sounds through my TV. But the cord that runs between the headset and controller has become unusable with normal wear. So no chat. It's a great headset, though. It's heavy, so it does get pretty uncomfortable after a while.
I have the Turtle Beach X41's. Absolutely love them. Only thing, if I had to nitpick, is the fact that the headset doesn't warn you when your batteries are close to dying. So I'll be mid match and boom...dead. Can still speak, but can't hear. Always funny telling people that I can't hear them until after the match (when I can change them ;p ).
if i wanted a headset good enough to play guitar hero with (and perhaps street fighter, timing combos by sound of move-impact is a pro-tip in that game) and be the only one to hear it (i.e. it doesnt come from a speaker on a television), and i didnt care about wires (actually i perfer to have a wire at all times, like oldschool computer equipment or old-console controllers give me nostalgia), what would yall suggest? like is the very cheapest out there still a fair sound quality? and if so, what cheap pair would you suggest at what price? ive been wondering if i can do some free-hand work on a mic setup lmao. either make a pair of headphones morphed into my headset, or get a computer-gaming-headset and rework the imputs to function on console. seems cheaper but harder-risky.
The X11 is definitely the best for that. Very good sound quality, only $50-$60 depending on where you get it. Anything cheaper will probably sound shitty. Not to mention the X11 lets you adjust game and chat volumes separately, but none of the other cheap ones do. You get a one year warranty with them if you order from the website also. They are extremely durable and shouldn't break if you are careful with them. My X1s are still functional after a year and a half.
if your thinking of getting these for black ops, don't apparently its extremely hard to hear people in the game without having the background noise but there is always background noise atm, unless they patch that..
