One of the reasons i love this game is the strategy of it. But after having played this game since day one, i've begun to notice that their are a few things that can take away from that strategy. And one of the them is the fact that some characters in the game can totally wipe out a turret in no time, while others have to constantly keep at the turrets until they are destroyed. I wish that the turrets were stronger, so that the assassin, tank or gunner couldn't just wipe out every turret in the base. I'm pretty sure that some of you might disagree. See you in the arena. No kiddin'. Turrets and ring-outs bring me the most joy in this game. I recently achieved 1,000+ rock-it turrets built/upgraded and 4,000+ laser turrets.

Since juicing has become more prevalent than it ever has, I rarely build any. I used to upgrade one skill at the beginning of a match, making sure I had some cash for turrets. Now I just put money into skills. It's just come to that. "What's the point?", really.

    I agree.
Snipers destroying turrets from the other side of the map quickly is ridiculous

What most people build when building rock-it turrets (and then claim are underpowered):

    Rock-it 1 (unhacked)

    Possible Upgrades/Supplements:

    Rock-it 1 Overhealed
    Rock-it 1.1
    Rock-it 1.1 Overhealed
    Rock-it 1.2
    Rock-it 1.2 Overhealed
    Rock-it 1.3
    Rock-it 1.3 Overhealed
    Rock-it 2
    Rock-it 2 Overhealed
    Rock-it 2.1
    Rock-it 2.1 Overhealed
    Rock-it 2.2
    Rock-it 2.2 Overhealed
    Rock-it 2.3
    Rock-it 2.3 Overhealed
    Rock-it 3
    Rock-it 3 Overhealed
    Rock-it 3.1
    Rock-it 3.1 Overhealed
    Rock-it 3.2
    Rock-it 3.2 Overhealed
    Rock-it 3.2
    Rock-it 3.3 Overhealed

Build something in the top half of the tier list. Put ice traps around it, and have a half decent sniper area deny/head shot any gunner that tries to mortar it.

Cheap Turrets (including all laser blazers) that people set and forget are nothing more than barriers for bots and speed bumps for pros as they should be.

Post DLC: Cheaper rocket turrets, No more juice chaining (gunner and assualt players especially will have more trouble with this), no more instant health regen glitch, and more excess cash for all those pros that used to chain juice to now upgrade their base or spawn bots. Turrets should be a lot more user friendly then, but they are FAR from useless now.

Also you can't really look at each turret individually. Any hacked turret paired with a hacked Shave-Ice will be very effective. Juiced Assassins only take out half the base instead of the whole thing.

and if you're a defending support and you've been healing enough you can likely counter-juice. Tanks and assassins need to get close to take out turrets, close enough that your juiced shotgun can really do some damage (IE juiced tank dead in 2 hits)

Wow, all this turret stuff is confusing! No wonder why people don't use turrets often.

In order for turrets to be genuinely useful, you need a good support player. By good, I mean one that heals turrets almost constantly and hacks when necessary (read: every time you get it). THEN they can be of some use. Level 3 Rocket Turrets hacked and overhealed are very deadly.

Without one, you're better off leaving turrets alone. If you really like the turret aspect of the game, use the support. I have been trying to give turrets a chance again, and while not completely successful it's kinda fun to play.

Why can I not resist any thread with that word in the title?

Although I do agree that turrents are easily destroyed, that doesn't discourage me from building them. When I see the opposing team has a few decent players, or my team is being pushed into a corner, the first thing I do is build as many Lazer-Blazers and Shaveices I can and throw down my Firebase in a safe spot. They all help keep bots away from the Moneyball and slow down any Juiced Pro that comes into my base. Plus, they give me something to overheal to I can build up my own Juice so I can counter-Juice.

Believe me, I can understand how most people feel that spending money on turrents is a waste of money, because when someone destroys my turrents, I rage. HARD. Just ask anyone on Team OxyTeam. I'll even cuss out the person that destroyed them (I'm normally in a party, so they can't hear me, but still). I understand the frustration that comes from spending $500-$1000 on a base that's been wiped out in 10 seconds. However, I don't mean any of what I say. As a Pro, that's what they're supposed to do - push bots and take out turrents.

Plus, imagine how hard it would be to end a game if the turrents were never destroyed. You can push bots all you want, without someone destroying the turrents, they would never go anywhere.

My only gripe with turrets is how freaking easy it is for gunners to kill them if your team doesn't have a good counter. A good assassin and sniper can usually shut this down, but the key here is GOOD. Most are not (I'm terrible at both of those classes myself).

Tank can annoy them with rail gun, but the gunner can usually still kill the turret. Gunner can annoy Gunner or even try to close in, but the turret is still dead at that point. Assault is okay, and Support is just SOL unless the gunner is dumb enough to be in mortar range.

It's so easy mode, even I can do it on most matches, and I'm a pretty noob gunner that is a tasty assassin/sniper treat. I hate trying to protect turrets from Gunners that know how to mortar. But I mainly do tank and support, so I'm terribly mismatched against it.

Tanks usually can't do it without taking at least 1/3 of their HP from SOMETHING, so they're often in a bad spot if they just rushed in after your turret.

Assassins usually need to be juiced unless you're just going to let them sit there throwing ninja stars at it.

Support's Air strike got a cooldown nerf, so that will help.

Assault? I don't think I've ever seen them kill turrets, even juiced... not as their main goal at least. They're usually chilling mid field annoying the piss out of lane pushers.

So yeah, as far as 'easy turret kills', I'd say gunner is the only one that's a real pita to deal with. And maybe a good tank if you're actually letting him waltz right in to your base.

I like playing a defensive type game, Assassins in Juice are not too strong, the only problem is they Juice too often, making it less of a Defensive game and more of a quickest to win, lol. It would be funner more defensive.
