There's a youtube video you can search for that illustrates something many of us have been doing with the Jackbots as Support Pros. The idea is, on any map, to get the Jackbot to stop and shoot at your Firebase. That part is easy right? The trick is to place your Firebase behind an unused Turret node. This works on many Crossfire maps, especially if there are raised areas you can place your Firebase that will leave an unused Turret node between it and the Jackbot. On Blitz the Jackbot will be under the RH check-mark under the bridge. Stand back by the Moneyball and line your Firebase behind the RH turret node. This is all for your own enjoyment and serves no purpose other than having some fun.
There's a lot of ways to jam up a Jackbot LazeRazor they'll try to slam you when you're on the catwalks above More open maps get them to shoot at you from a distance and just dodge the rockets Keep healing a RockIt they're shooting at, etc, etc What drives me nuts is when I see an Assassin run up and slash away at it without grappling
In Crossfire grappling a Jackbot is one of the worst things you can do. And even in Blitz I'm sure most of the time it's better to not grapple him (except he is very close to the ball).
depends on the situation.. if the jackbot is wrecking your teams turrets, grapple is a good option but otherwise, an assassin can get a huge amount of juice just by slashing instead of grappling, and they still kill it very quickly
If it's still back near the enemy base then go ahead and slash away, but if the Jackbot is getting a bit close to our base, I'd rather see an Assassin grapple it. Half the time when I see a Jackbot on the move I start pounding on it. If possible I'll headcrab it with the Assault bomb or airstrikes
As an assassin-slash-sniper, If you grapple the Jackbot, you put yourself at risk, since your hitbox doesn't move at all, and anyone can kill you in a very short moment and be on thier merry way. As an assassin, I jump like crazy and slash the Jackbot. It's much hard to shoot me, and since I'm close to the Jackbot anyway, it will attempt to slam me.
I'm not so sure about that as I've landed hits on a sniper/assassin while their model was on the Jackbots shoulders
The hitbox does move. Never noticed that up until recently because as an assassin you don't have to care about that. Just wanted to say that.
Anyone who grapples a jackbot who is not posing an immidiate threat to the base/moneyball unless there are dire conditions that warrant it is a total moron. No questions. That said, i'm the kind of assassin who is usually attacking the enemy jackbot as it walks out of the spawn door. It's rare i see a jackbot on the other team make it halfway across the field with me in the game.
i've been enlightened! I've always grappled jacks to prevent them from even becoming a threat to our base in the first place! ...I'll never again grapple a jackbot that's not even halfway to our base :O
Grappling is a guaranteed death against any competent player in crossfire, and builds significantly less juice than just slashing the thing, which can get you a full juice bar in a few seconds.
...If you place it there the Jackbot totally misses. Silly Jackbot will shoot at it forever and not make any hit. To end the silliness I hack the Firebase and it starts shooting the Jackbot.
