MNC now figure on Top Sellers list of Steam. (top 20 ) congrats go go go to the top  http://store.steampowered.com/ p.s: not figure on steam-us yet ------------ 24/01 - top 4 right now (top 5 at us).
I hope it will totally take off when it's 'properly' released. It could get one of those games that sell a lot of copies over a long time too since the support is awesome.
The support is awesome, but I prefer assassin myself [/sarcasm] I think this game could be easily one of those top sellers/top gross after release and enough people put positive feedback. Think of global agenda .
tldr: GA was interesting during beta, but lost long-term appeal with me. If you like GA, great, keep on playing. The support of the GA developers was at it's highest during beta and for multiple reasons. Primarily because there is choice in the vast entertainment/gaming market, and consumers expect finished products - GA beta was not a refined finished product. Although the developers were working issues, some people got fed up with the drawn out beta and lack of mobility and imagination, and just made it one of those throw away games in your steam library; something to come back to a few months later. And then there was the debacle over monthly subscriptions. Subscriptions to do what exactly? By the time anything good was done with the game (ie, no sub fee) developers lost their initial audience as they found other ways to entertain themselves. When I read GA forums now, it's like it's a virtual ghost town. There's plenty of fanboy content, but hardly any in-depth discussion about fixing the game itself, even after sandstorm. GA comes to my mind as more of a public affairs/marketing success rather than a genuine video game success. Fanboys are apt to disagree, as to be expected.
I... I... I... I-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-i wanna know those surprises. NAO! >:O Anyway, I'm doing well without the surprises though. Like the so many loss in a pub match, because one guy just massacres the whole team. Kinda frustrating...
I've already bought the game for 5 other people not including myself, and I've talked at least 4 more into buying it on their own. I'm doing my part.
Agreed. The marketing for this game isn't very good. I thought it looked like a TF2 clone. On a whim, I watched Gamespy's video review, and bought it immediately. I've bought it for my wife and a couple of friends as well. Got a dedicated server running. I do think the game has a few too many mechanics that kill you without actually being out-played, so it gets frustrating in a hurry, but there is so much potential here, and honestly, I haven't had this much fun in a shooter since TF2 first rolled out Bad Water and Gold Rush (you know, back when it was more shooter than hat trading game ). Uber, you guys really ought to look at your marketing strategy; at first glance, the game looks like a TF2 clone. It's so much better than that, but I wonder how many people aren't getting past that misleading first impression.
TFC (precursor to TF2) had almost NO marketing due to it's status as a free modification for HL. It was the community that marketed it through downloads and playtime. I would argue that developers of MNC were INFLUENCED by the aforementioned genre, but I doubt they were sitting in their planning office during a staff meeting with the idea to re-create the wheel. There is enough difference between a TF2 genre and MNC on quite a few levels that it shouldn't qualify as a clone in gamers minds. TBH, TF2 was fun, but has run it's course. With all of the added virtual crap (hats and paint) players are paying through the arm for, I've lost interest but for the occasion lobby. I guess that's me though. And here we are. Marketing will probably improve after release. Don't expect to see commercials on TV though. :-D
We're not really pushing the game too much right now during the beta. You'll see more marketing related things after we launch.
*******. Endorsement. Stickers. NAO. FOR REAL LIFE! Of course, I'll probably just buy tonnes of Total Recoil, because dude, EVERY class benefits from Total Recoil! It's essentially a +30% Damage Amp. Then put some "Survivotol" on the medicine cabinet, Spunky Cola on the Ice Box, Regenegreat on the Biscuit tin, Skill Pill on a packet of Tic Tacs, LazeRazor on the bathroom mirror, Bionogrip on my box of tissues- Err, you get the idea.
That last thing I didn't wanna know. But I wanna see what products out of all that. Hell, I'd buy aptilube just to become better. Seriously though, I'd like to see more stuff in the shop than what we have right now. But maybe you guys can only manage that right now.
