I think so and it bothers me. Sorry I'm like that.

Please git rid of the old LiveStream ones at least, plus a bunch of these are topics that could be linked to in the index, and/or will stay up top due to their inherent popularity.

    P.S. Everyone loves a poll! :p

I'd say more subforums would be a better idea than removing stickies. Once there is more subforums you could move the stickies there instead.

A dedicated announcements sub-forum could be helpful.

    There are certainly a few stickies that could be cropped;

    May 3rd LS
Cosmic Digital Edition and Localized Store
Awesome Wallpapers and Fan Art , PA Inspired or Reminiscent

The "Trying Something New: Reddit Q&A for May 17th Livestream" can prolly go down after the May 17th LS....

There are some options, maybe an "Uber Thread Index" that gets stickied could help keep all the Threads Uber created and stickied together could help clear the clutter, but I'm not sure it'd really be that needed.

Someone should make a sticky to find out if there are too many polls.

I have to agree with Godde. One thing I noticed when first joining is it just seems like a jumble and some subforums could help organise it.

You mean like there's General Discussion and then General Discussion 2.0 (for backers only)

Yea, We've noticed that already... and Knight and myself have been campaigning to get more sub-forums or more active moderation (including moving threads). Looks like we'll get a sub-forum for the Alpha... maybe.

    ---

Every sub-forum would just turn into another General Discussion lounge though as the Moderators aren't moving threads into the appropriate forums now... and there's only two to choose from.

I can see more sub-forums as just an invitation for more of a cluster-f*** unless more Moderators are brought on board.

Mmm yes I have to agree with nanolathe, looks like you certainly need some more moderators. Things are only going to get more hectic when Alpha drops, get 'em trained up now to be ready for it.

I also feel very strongly that we need an alpha subforum so there is somewhere we can actually discuss the game and actually help progress with PA development. Somewhere away from all these irrelevant threads full of frivolous postulation and pointless discussion about a game we know very little about yet.

Sub-forums are needed. Also assigning people to mod just the sub-forums would be a good idea. I am currently an admin on a big forum and we assigned moderators to specific sections so they don't feel overloaded. It works well as long as everyone does their part.

Dividing topics into sub-forums would really help with organization and it would remove a lot of questions that people keep asking. Mike's topic index thread would really help in that organization as well.

Also Uber needs to implement a bot removal tool or somehow protect the forum from bots. There are already a lot of those and the game isn't even in Alpha.

No, right now to be honest we don't need more subforums, what we needed was to keep general discussion stuff out of the Backer's Lounge, but that's not worth dealing with anymore considering that 80+% of the Lounge would need to be moved. Anyways, right now we don't need separate Subforums, Once Alpha/Beta go out they should each get a specific SubForum, further divided as needed or organization's sake. The Coming of Alpha/Beta will also create the need for Modding SubForums as well, that's definetly something I'll be Badgering Uber about it when the time is right, maybe I'll Bug O about it again, just like old times! xD

That generally falls to Moderators as well.

i brought this up in the general uberent forums, it should be relatively simple to limit posting URLs to a minimum post count.

this doesn't fix the spam problem but it causes enough hassle for spam botters to move on to easier pickings.

Uber could use the 'Welcome to PA' thread a little more by merging the OPs of that thread with stuff like the FAQ, Alpha Info, and Economy system. Though that would cause more confusion in a way since both of the latter threads are still somehow being heavily discussed. Certainly though, the Welcome and FAQ could be merged I reckon.

Sub-forums are desperately needed in my opinion to organise the mess of 80+ pages. I'm not even in the backers lounge (backed through a friend, so don't have access), but I imagine its much the same in there.

In this day and age, bot removal tools are much more efficient than human moderators cause its simple to implement and it is done automatically. I have seen several spam threads during the last week and thats the problem. Spam threads should be removed as soon as they are created and mods aren't online all the time to do it.
Also if I'm not mistaken, being a mod is voluntary so nothing is forcing them to be online all day and stalk for bot spammers.

I think the bot issue lies with account creation more than anything else.

We have as many stickies as we think we need, and change them to standard topics as soon as they're not relevant any more. We really don't need a poll about this. :|
