I'd like to thank wild, chron, teapot, lol and the others for allowing a lowly noob such as myself to play with the big boys today. It was a big change from pubs and I learnt a lot. I now realise I have to play support in a totally different style and after a ton of practice hopefully next time I wont suck so bad.. I had fun.
The Silent Ram's Amazingly Profound Private Match Support Guide Step 1: Heal the gunner constantly. Step 2: Yell at your gunner when you're getting shot. That's basically it.
No problem man, I'm always interested in letting new people play these as long as they have a good head on their shoulders and don't mind the competitive atmosphere. having the will to learn is also a big one. You did good especially for the first private match. I play gunner a little differently because I fly all over the place with no rhyme or reason. It's impossible to keep up especially on lazorazor. You did your best under such hard circumstances.. and it's just as much the gunner's job to be aware of where the support is. Yes, private match support is very different. A lot aren't fans of the "gunner's bitch" (for lack of a better term) mentality, but it's very important and determines map control. Some players in the past choose not to make gunner's their priority and decided to use the support's skills elsewhere. Although a good firebase could lock down a lane, it hurt the team as a whole because they were getting outslayed by another gunner/support duo. Good supports are able to keep gunner's overhealed and find ways to use their other skills. Strategic firebases, well placed air strikes etc.. Depends how far you wanna take your practice. I could easily set up a match where a gunner is just flying around and you can watch how the support moves to keep up. I still also wanna give you just some basic tips and pointers as well. Thanks for giving them a shot man, hope to see you in more.
it's been more than just him gunked. I don't have to yell to be jealous of that sweet *** accent. I used to play rugby for a long time and loved all the accents that came with the sport.
theres more to just healing the gunner.. tossing random air strikes by jumping or key places where people rape bullseye (ammo mule basement floor) Shotgunning the gunner in the air and watching him fall throwing a firebase in a different location every time which causes the team to lose focus using the jump pads to heal and move juice build up then rushing
As true as that is, I only know like 4 supports who will actually heal the Gunner all the time (myself included). Whilst shotgunning the other Gunner is cool and all, how many times does that actually work? How many of those times does your Gunner then die straight away? As sad as it is, the support is the "Gunner's bitch". Period.
When your gunners dead theres other people who need healing... assault/tank as well... and if they are dead heal anyone near you... a gold armor overheal > no heal gold armor
