Hey, was wondering if anyone else had a chance to play this over the last couple days. Got into it Monday, and gotta say it's pretty fun - if a bit easy. It's definitely a nice change from the usual console-style shooter, and the parkour is really damn fun, just jumping around the map: arguably more fun than the Titans, which play sorta like a more sluggish durable HAWKEN mech. It's also quite nice that there's a lot of gender and race diversity in the pilot characters which was quite surprising from a triple-A game by a former CoD team. It definitely doesn't LOOK next gen though, mind, texture quality varies quite a lot from pretty good to awful in places, and it shows it's Source engine roots. It's also ridiculously easy for anyone with a sense of spatial awareness and able to even slightly aim. Prolly won't buy on launch, will wait and see if the final game and it's "campaign multiplayer" is solid enough to be worth the pricetag and keep me interested.
I'm holding back for quite a while before I even consider it. Because EA are involved I'm extremely cautions of things like day-1 divisive DLC and the like. The game itself looks solid, though.
I think EA have very little say in the design this time around: the servers are all Microsoft and (citation needed) heard somewhere that there won't be microtransactions of any sort in the game. The fact that there's no DLC on the store page when other EA titles *cough BF4 cough* had DLC advertised on their page long before release. Unless I just jinx'd it and suddenly the entire thing is DLC xD
I've no problem with DLC per se, my problem is with divisive DLC - hopefully you sorta know what I mean by that.
Aye, I used to play Halo 3 on 360, I know the kind. When half the community is playing on all the new maps and half are stuck with vanilla and **** like that. imho I don't like the idea of paid map packs at all, too used to Valve free map updates.
I really enjoyed the Titanfall Beta on the Xbox One. I realized I haven't played a console shooter in 2 years, so my aiming was way off, but there's so many fun melee attacks to compensate. I loved it! For a frantic, kinda spastic player as myself, the wall jumping and jetpack jumps were perfect for me as I could just button mash myself an escape route.
sounds like a diverse mechanic console version of planetside 2. That being said, that is a good thing. If I can I will get it.
The textures have to be placeholders or ported directly from the Xbox. There's no way you can release a game of this magnitude with such terrible textures.
I feel like everyone is gonna focus on the Titans, but the best part of the game imho is the freerunning: the first "phase" when there's not really any Titans and everyone's just rushing objectives or positions is so frantic and fun. That said, the Beta seems to be full of people with no awareness so I keep getting ridiculous kill streaks I'm not sure, the game comes out in early March, so why wouldn't they use the actual ones. It's not a -bad- looking game per say, but it's definitely not on par with stuff like Killzone on PS4 or Ryse on XbOne. Then again, in the case of the latter, gameplay definitely trumps graphics. End of the day, it's Source. Doesn't matter how much they tinkered with it, Source's selling point it "Doesn't look great but will run on a toaster"
Been playing for a few hours. So much bloody fun. Best feeling in the world is when you can ninja past an entire team in LTS and then pump them full of rockets. Don't buy it on Origin, I've seen copies cheaper elsewhere.
Been playing since day 2 of the Beta on my PC, with my controller. Rock solid 60 fps at high settings on 1080p. Loving it. On foot combat is ok, but getting in the Titan is what I'm always looking forward to. 75% win ratio
I’ve had the beta since yesterday afternoon and I gotta say it’s really fun. Not really played anything like it. The titans are great to use. I wasn’t sure if I would get it on release but after playing the beta I definitely will do
Oh yeah, there's a code for a site to get £20/$20 off it, forget which site, gimme a bit to find it Also, I can't shake the feeling that I'm being let down a bit by my team a lot of the time.
I didn't get in so I'll just sit alone in the corner over here, reading your posts, hoping EA doesn't do what it usually does.
Game is the easiest thing in the world if you have any sense of positioning and spatial awareness. Lots of CoD kids in it who don't look around or take advantage of the map verticality. Then again, I just had a week solid of playing Mirror's Edge, so the whole parkour speed-running thing is natural to me now
NEVER PLAY FPS WITH +100ms NEVER EVER NEVER (unless it's smnc or cpma, other fps games just fall apart with that much latency) edit: Also grimbar has been showing me screenshots where he dominates, so I assume this game is pretty easy.
The servers are in another country. And I fair reasonably well with the lag - I can top my team (rarely top the server) in about half my games.
