The question i have is with a game on this scale aka multiple planets; how long is it gonna take for me to reach my opponent on average. Take the scenario below for example: Team A starts on a planet on one side of the galaxy and team B starts on the far other side. How long is it gonna take for them to reach each other and start blowin robots to oblivion.First they'd have to eco up enough to interplanetary transport units, then they have to scout the new planet, then they have to start mechanizing each new planet they get to; then start going to even more planets and mechanizing/militarizing them. They keep following this pattern of build up,scout, transport, build up, etc until they finally find their opponent at which point they have build up and be able to transport an army to said planet. Within that scene; lots of things happen b4 either team even sees each other. And so some of the questions: How long is it going to take to get that first unit off the planet? Will Interplanetary travel only be available at tech 2? If so,how will this affect the frequency of tech 1 use and engagements? How far can we travel in one trip? Across the whole galaxy or do we have to planet hop? Are we going to end up having an hour+ worth of sim city eco/army build b4 any actions is had in large games? In one of the live streams; Mavor mentioned something of an egg/mini base to start off with to avoid the typical start up must do list that are seen in other games, will this "egg" be re-creatable for launch to other planets? or is it just for the very start of game? That's all the questions i can think of off the top of my head right now, any answers(even if they are "I don't know how this will be handled" are welcome and appreciated as well as thoughts and ideas for this.
No way to tell until gameplay testing starts, from there things will e endlessly tweaked and changed, also depends a lot on interplanetary travel which has not had any Confirmations from Neutrino yet, but there are some threads here that cover that topic. Topic Index Mike
It is most likely you will face enemies starting with your first planet. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much to do! It'd pretty much be an NR20 game at that point.
Most likely scenario I see happening is that you would always have an equal number of opposing enemy forces on the same planet as you. So 1v1, you're both on 1 planet. 2v2, also likely 1 planet, 3v3 might be 2v2 on one planet, 1v1 on another. 3 way FFA would be on one planet, 5 way FFA might be spread over two...
