To start off I'm not looking for specific information on what is being discussed. I know when you have something to share you will share it but the fact that talks are taking place in the first place is a pretty big deal. Don't hate me for another TF2 comparison but it is very fitting in this case. If anybody doesn't know the history Valve wanted to do free updates and addons to TF2 that microsoft refused to do because valve wanted to give them out for free (which they did on the PC side of the game). If I remember correctly this is at least part of the reason Valve has a rather large beef with M$.

Here we are again with a fantastic game on both PC (through steam) and Xbox with a lot of cool stuff coming on the PC side but because of microsofts archaic DLC rules the PC is far outpacing the xbox with updates and additions but this time they are in talks with the developers instead of telling them to go go urinate up a rope. TF2 proved that Microsoft sees Steam as a non-factor competition wise but I just wonder if their minds have changed since Valve teamed up with Sony. I would love to hear the developers thoughts on this.

Not to mention MS has to approve any patches for games that use GfWL
The original Section 8 was plagued by patch delays because MS had to tack on another 2+ weeks before they'd approve the patch for release

Then there was the DLC maps for S8. For some godforsaken reason the price was set in a way that you couldn't just get the exact amount needed, you had to buy more than needed
For some players I guess that works out in the long run, but in my case S8 was the only game I had with GfWL, so I now have about 140 MSPoints just sitting there and as far as I can tell, even the piddly crap you can get for your avatar starts at 160
    [/textwall]

I have no idea how many (free)maps have been added to TF2 since release 3 years ago, but I suspect enough that if it were the "$10-15 for 3 maps" crap, people would have been able to buy 2 more copies of TF2

Microsoft is going to have to do a complete overhual of GfWL if they ever want it to be a real competitor to Steam

I think what it boils down to is that a lot has changed since microsoft has first implemented its policies on the marketplace and a lot of developers big and small have seen the value of the service itself. I personally spent more money and more time on marketplace games in the last year than I have on retail games. I NEVER spend full retail price on a disk based game. $40 is the max I will spend on a game and it has to have a lot of game there for me to spend that much. On the other hand I have spent full price on between 1/3 to 1/2 of the marketplace games. Five to fifteen dollars is a much easier impulse buy verses twenty to sixty. But if Sony is going to let Valve do their thing with updates and what not on their service xbox is going to loose out on a lot of money from those people with both systems getting their games from Sony instead of Microsoft.

This is a sort of sidenote, but I wonder how explosively Xboxes would sell if the next generation had keyboard/mice capabilities and could be played with PC players...

It's not uber's fault that the PC is a much friendlier environment for developers and I don't blame them at all for bringing the game to the PC. I feel that I have gotten more than my $15 out of what they have made so far and I might give them another $15 to get it on the PC now that I finally have one that can play it.

Then thats something they should have thought about before releasing the game to 360, the only people playing this after a couple of months with all the new games coming out will be the poor people and the juice whores.

Oh i forgot, after 5 months they are bringing one map out. I will stay, lol <Sarcasm

Do other games really do better?

I predict one of two things:

-You will go back to $60 games, realize they have about as much content and a much more annoying playerbase, and we might live to hear an apology for complaining about free and cheap content for a cheap game that has so much content for it's value already.

-You will get more arcade games, realize they die EVEN FASTER if they ever had a playerbase to begin with, and we might live to hear an apology for complaining about free and cheap content for a cheap game that has so much content for it's value already. /Echo

Either way will end the same, you will probably either learn patience and stick with the xbox MNC if it really is your kind of game after all, or you might upgrade to pc (which costs less accumulatively than getting a new game anyway).

Just out of curiosity, do you ever contribute anything positive to a discussion? Holy drama. Always.

Bro, this is my best game by far, ive already said it countless times. But when it comes to content there is none. The 360 had the game way before pc, uber should have taken into account that microsoft take ages to agree to dlc and worked around that from the start.

But instead we 360 users get put on the shelf for pc, and before some one else says "but its easy to update pc" i know. And know they plan to bring out one map? And pc will be getting that before us, i am shocked.<sarcasm<

One more thing bro, your never gonna get an apology from anyone ever so calm down sailor.

Uber will be getting the apology, not me ;) .

Anywho, it is your choice. Stay with MNC... Play a different game until the DLC arrives... Or continue to drift through $15 arcade games every 2weeks-1month, or $60 retail games and recieve massive dissapointment from the appauling gameplay.

I quote: "Black Ops was so bad, some european countries are forcing merchents to give refunds for it, as the game was considered defective goods."

Lolbad. But enjoy. Hope to see you around post-dlc-release if you do take a break from this game.

I guess I am lucky that back in my early days of online multiplayer console gaming there was no such thing as content updates. You'd by the game and play it for years without a single update. Kids these days with there fancy updates and always complaining for more. ;)

I have to say it but Bro is basically right.
    :ugeek:

p.s. They don't plan to bring out one map. They just have one map that was ready to demo. Video games take a lot of time and work. Just keep that in mind. ;)

I think that Microsoft are partially to blame here. I love this game, but it definitely grinds my gears that PC are constantly getting updates, balances and new features that us 360 users will not be seeing for a long time, if ever. I understand that there are complications when working with 360 rather than PC, but It'd be nice for the developers to at least make an effort. Hints at a DLC, hints at new features, some fancy trailers that the PC users keep getting. Something to create speculation and enjoyment. But no, every update that comes up now-a-days is PC related and it's awful.

I mean, when I checked the site and saw that a DLC (spunky cola) was coming out, I came back every day and I speculated what the map would play like, how the classes would be changed and I read what they planned to I had something to look forward to. This time around it's 'THERE'S AN UPDATE' 'PC though...'

And anyone that says this is crying over spilt milk or that I'm impatient, they'd be wrong. I do have other games I can play, and I do have better things I can do. But that's hardly a business plan for Uber Entertainment is it? 'Oh we have a game, we could release new content for it so that people maintain interest. Or we could have our moderators tell them to play something else until we realize a portion of our companies revenue has gone out the window and we try to say sorry by releasing an update'

How old are you stretch? The way you go on you would think you were around 45.

The way you go on you'd think you were 12 years old.

On topic: Uber have said many times they are trying to get the update to us. I believe them. These talks with Micro$oft have been reassuring, so I'm fine with everything.

I would like to point out that Deadpool is 13 to be as well spoken as he is. So based on how he talks compared to the other guy, I would change that 12 yr old to about a 7 yr old.

On topic: I am happy with the way the game is until we get new maps/content. There are a few things that are annoying, but it can all be fixed by hitting start then exit game.

You should remember Sega Genesis and NES if you are 20. I do.

Anyway, Sonic 3 was the first game ever to get "New Content Update", and really that was a mess up on their behalf.

You see, they wanted to release Sonic 3 on Hedgehog Day, which forced them to release half a game literally. Then, they didn't want to waste that work, so they set up a "lock on" system, where you can attach the cartridge to another cartridge, and it would add the rest of the content. They called it Sonic and Knuckles 3. They even made it to where you can play the expansion without the original, although you did get an extended storyline and a few new features for getting both.

Before that, great games didn't have updates. IMO, they don't need it desperately, they are simply nice to have is all.
