Why do you think it's banned and what school is it?

I guess it was banned for being non-educational. I remember my days of circumnavigating the restrictions. Fun times.

I remember my days of getting repeatedly called down to the office for circumnavigating the restrictions.

Websites that have anything to do with video games get banned, and uber has been noticed by the 80 year old *** tight people that run schools.

I remember when my school was bad at banning sites and we once had a class where a group of kids were watching a porn site when the teacher stepped out  That happened several times too until they changed things up with firewalls. Nowaday they're anal and even ban sites for like video games and such.

I was one of those nerds who wrote a program to trick the network into thinking I was an administrator, there were about 6 of us that worked on the program. None of us ever got caught. It was pretty fun times.

A bunch of us at my school installed Counter-strike and Quake on the server thing at school.

Any computer at the school could access it if you knew where it was, But it would get deleted by a teacher or something every once in a while. Not sure how they detected the games in our files.

We didn't bother with websites, We always brought USB sticks and stuff with games on them. Much more fun playing LAN games.

.........Managing the web filters for the district I work for is part of my job..... We also block video game sites.......does that make me 80? I suddenly lost 50 years of my life

Yup. My high school's was P@$$W0RD. I guess they thought they were clever... We had Mario 64 on all of our computers. I actually beat the game and got all of the extras before I graduated.

Most high schools have a hard time tracking down and blocking proxy servers. Y'alls should give that a shot.

Unless, of course, it would interrupt your studies!

I kind of hate you guys for this thread.

The proxy thing. It is way harder than you'd think to keep up with those and keep students away from them.

And while i agree on most district passwords being simple (i annoyed my school district when i was in high school) if a kid manages to figure out ours, he deserves to get on whatever he's aiming for.
