Appears in the live build and pte. SSAO doesn't work at all, and gives me this when on.

I get this on mac with nVidea.

Strange artifacts.png anyone else got this?

No, just inky blackness like the depths of space. (OS X 9, Intel HD5000)

    Don't turn on SSAO? :) I kid, I kid.

Could you provide more details on the exact system specs? Year model, which Nvidia chip, which OS, how much memory, and what settings you're using?

    Let's see..

    OSX 10.9.2
    2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    8gb RAM
Intel HD 4000 1gb and nVidea GT 650M
    15-inch Mbp 2880 x 1800 retina, late 2013

settings all high, except headlights medium
    HDR on, FXAA on

I was playing with SSAO off and didn't realize it, so i found this now instead of when the build came out.

Also Wondible, I get that too sometimes when SSAO is enabled.

What wondible is seeing I think is related to HDR, not SSAO, though I'm not 100% sure about that. I'll point @varrak and @bgolus us to this thread as well.

This is an issue with Ambient Occlusion turned on for Macs. I think we're still working on this one. Turning off AO does resolve it in the meantime.

It happens when both SSAO and HDR are turned on at the same time. Not when HDR is on alone.

Also @-tags don't work. unless you guys fixed that. let's test: @wondible

I want to add the fact that AO doesn't work at all, it doesn't give any graphical improvements, it gives those weird things instead.

That shot was HDR off (I invariably hit a slow situation and turn everything off, so it was still off). HDR helps with the bright spots a little, but not the blackness.

    That's strange then.

Also I only get the weird stuff when a planet has been generated, when the system is empty, they don't appear.

This still happens in 65588 (stable) too. Just a heads up on the situation.

We just recently found two issues that we believe are possible causes. One is fixed, but I don't believe made it into the stable build that was released. The other one @varrak just tracked down yesterday and I believe is still working on a fix for.

Short explanation of the bug is textures being used by the video card were randomly getting corrupted / out of order. How this manifested changed from computer to computer, but most commonly showed as the blue / purple feature LOD bug, but we believe may also the cause of a handful of seemingly unrelated issues like this one.
    stonewood1612 and aevs like this.

Now with the galactic war update, the game crashes when I turn on SSAO after generating planets.

Never mind.. the latest build fixes it. It was so natural I didn't notice it was on and working at first! The game still crashes occasionally upon finishing planet generation. @bgolus thanks, Uber!
