It's the most I'm willing to spend on a gaming headset and looks like they're worth the price, any opinions on these?
I have them they are very good for the price i just don't like how its a really long cord and gets in the way sometimes. They are way better than the $20 headset that breaks so easy. They will last for a while. I love them and you can hear assassin's way better. I have had mine for a year and a half they are still working great i tell most of my friends on cod to get them they did and they loved them.
You use component or hdmi? If the former, go for it. And even if you're not a "tryhard", having a headset is really nice. The level of sound design in games is astounding, you really don't get all the minute details if you aren't using a headset. And it's nice having a better mic and being able to play the sound loud at night and the like. I have X1's, apparently the X11's are more comfortable and let you hear yourself talking so you don't have to keep going "Hello, hello, can anyone hear me?" etc., and prevents you from talking too loudly. Which, according to my Mom, I do quite often. Only problem is you might have trouble with the talkback cable (connects the Xbox to the "amp" on the Turtle Beaches. Worst case scenario, you email them and tell them it doesn't work, and they'll send you another. I actually had to do it twice, but that was years ago, so they might have fixed it. Other than that, yes I do recommend it.The only reason you'd want a more expensive headset is if you're loaded with cash or are an extreme audiophile.
I had x1's as well until i broke them they started to hurt my ear's the new x11's are way more comfortable and they do help so you don't talk loud.
Is their treble performance as bad as the X3s? I'd use those all the time, but if anything isn't bass-centric is playing everything turns to static :|
Is that what causes that? I have no idea if they improved on the X11's or not, but mine do that, too. I just generally keep my headphones at a somewhat low volume, anyway, so it doesn't happen terribly often.
Since I have bought the X1s, X3s, X31s and X11s I BEG you to not buy X11s or for that matter, any wired headset. Paying the extra for wireless is worth it trust me. I'll tell you why. Guess which of the headsets I bought still work? The wireless ones! Thw wired headsets cords are stupidly long (who really sits 5m away fro their TV) and are a pain to handle. I had to constantly tie them with tape which eventually comes off, leaving the wires sticky. Or tying bands around them to keep them in place. Then to my horror I discovered on the TB support FAQ and help that this actually damages them. It effects the sound and the internal wires. So when I take them off they just become all tangled and any kind of un tangling or straightening them out doesn't work , leaving them in a mess and in the way on my desk or floor. So then you just end up leaving them like this which damages them aswell and when you do keep straightening them, it cracks them open leaving exposed wires which then lead to them breaking. GET WIRELESS HEADSETS. P.S Get Astros. (They really aren't overpriced "MLG" junk) I've tried my friends and they pwn Turtle Beach.
TB's have a little velcro thing attached to the cord so you can wrap them up, no need for tape and other such things. I agree the cables are excessively long, but I'd rather that than the stock Xbox headset, which I would frequently unplug or pull off my head by accident because the cord was so tiny. I've played with Astros and they're lovely, but you really don't need them. You just really need some sort of stereo sound so you can figure out where things are happening better. Beyond that you're just paying for it to sound a little better. And of course if you abuse cables they're going to snap and the like, just don't excessively bend them or what-have-you. I don't like wireless stuff. Why? Sure, they're convenient, but they have one huge problem: batteries. You have to spend money on batteries, regardless of if they're rechargeable or not. Rechargeable batteries tend to not last as long as standard batteries, and they get weaker the more you charge them (over time, it isn't an instant thing but it does happen). You know what else I don't like? Batteries dying. I don't need my batteries dying when I'm trying to get my revenge on a cheeky 10 year old that calls me colorful insults, that will just result in more colorful insults from squeaky mcsqueakerson. As I've said before, I've played with Astros, wireless ones at that. There are just about as many cables as there would be if it were just wired. And that's just silly. Sorry for the over verbosity, I tend to do that more often than I'd like.
Yes, they were designed more with bass in mind. It gets worse when the batteries are low. Say 50% charge and it becomes noticeable. 15% charge and anything that isn't hip-hop is solid static :|
I use wired stuff, so that doesn't happen. I did notice that certain wireless controllers of mine produced more static than others, but it might have just been the charge of the batteries.
for the x31's, the amount of static is affected by however many wireless things you have near your headset/transmitter, so if you use an ethernet cable and a standard rather than wired telephone, the hissing is less noticable. it also gets worse when the chat cable is pluged in to the headset, due to imperfect chat feedback noise canceling. i switched from the x31 to the x11 and i prefer the x11.
I also have the X11's, very durable with great sound quality. Best headset for the amount it costs, which isn't too much.
