So in the thread about the level 99 blues I had the thought occur that we can easily spend our extra money on a variety of things from the aesthetic to ones that change gameplay. If anyone has followed Valve and Team Fortress 2 you would remeber that each class has a myriad of weapons, clothing and choices that they can make to diversify their character. So why can't MNC do the same thing?

Items could include alternate weapons, new equipment, alternate skins, skill options, etc. A Support could be changed from an Italian plumber into an extra from the Sopranos. He could exchange his Shotgun for a Revolver (longer range, slow rate of fire). He could exchange his Firebase for Rocket Sentry that has a minimum firing distance but causes splash damage. I could continue but basically the game is limitless even without new classes as you can modify existing ones. The bonus is that it would give us something to work towards once we reached the level cap.

Feel free to post your ideas on things we should be able to spend our money upon that is not a new Protag.

Note: As DeadStretch mentioned (in the other thread) the biggest concern is game balance so first and foremost MNC would need to attain a general level of balance before any additional ideas could be added. That being said I see no reason why making a few select changes would throw everything out of whack. So long as the changes were made in steps and given a few weeks to monitor, each change could easily be balanced.

    Love it.

    - New gun styles [all with the same effects, just a different look]
    - New character accessories [again, not to add new effects. just for looks.]
    - New character quotes

Great way to show off your accomplishments without the addition of a 'prestige' system. Yucko.

EDIT: I do NOT love it. It seems as though you changed your original post. I'm absolutely against anything that actually screws with game mechanics. [Unless it's something like weather options that would effect each class equally] The idea of being able to choose different weapons and such is trouble waiting to happen .. Especially if it's based on how much you play.

That would be neat. Even at level 80 something, I have quit giving an f about getting new protags. I want something different in the game.

It could be kept purely aesthetic. I'm not saying that one idea is better than another but even Valve made gameplay changes work in TF2 so I see no reason why it couldn't be done here. My idea was simply to let others suggest things that their money could be spent upon; I'm not saying that my ideas are the only ones. Bill Rueben suggested armor that has a burn or shock effect for example (see above).

I would rather see items purchasable like different skinned weapons, Assault can get that CoD style camo rifle, assassin can get different style swords.

Or additional items to add to custom characters.
    a hooded cloak for assassin
    Mr.T chain for tank
the bacon hanging from supports mouth can flap around as he runs.
    etc

Thats all i would rather see if any customizable options are added

I remember in another thread not unlike this one someone mentioned being able to unlock or buy different characters for the existing classes. That would be neat.

I will seriously come poop on your doorstep/dog if this whole "quoting yourself" meme catches on.

Edit: Just realized you were quoting ANOTHER thread, not trying to talk like The Rock. Carry on. :p

I will admit that aesthietic options would add more customization to the game and keep players interested just from trying to unlock everything. That being said I hate new content that fails to deliver additional depth to a game; it feels like a wasted effort to me.

For now, new maps and possibly a 7th class (Uber has one in the works) would be enough to keep us coming back for more. Adding in new visual changes that you have to pay to unlock would also be fairly simple to add and would need to come sooner rather than later. Once those things are in place a new gametype would be ideal especially if it uses the existing maps and then they could work on class specific gameplay changes. Again, I'm not suggesting that these changes happen overnight but eventually we will need some things to keep the gameplay interesting to the long-time players and more gameplay customization options would be ideal.

    Unlockable skins!

Assassin: Plague doctor. Replacement weapons...Well, use a scabbard instead of a sword. The irony would be fun.

Assault: Medieval armor and football uniforms. Suction cup dart launcher instead of assault rifle, t-shirt launcher instead of grenade launcher, some kind of energy wing dealie instead of jets.

Well, those sound good in my deranged mind anyways.

You guys do realize if things were just easy to add we would have done it already. While ideas mentioned here are things we considered during development, EVERYTHING takes time. We decided to focus on things that could be done in a reasonable amount of time and be shippable. We'll probably revisit customization in a DLC but there are memory limits involved with what can be loaded at once and all the permutations of things that we have to account for depending on class.

Lies and slander. I want a refund!

But naw, seriously. Isn't the point of an ideas thread just to post ideas?

Just make an option to replace your class with Pitgirl wielding their weapons and I think you'll make a lot of fans happy. If we've absolutely got to have a polygonal *** onscreen for the majority of time we play a game...Same reason I always preferred playing as Sheva in RE5 :D

Basically being able to spend the cash on ANYthing, even seemingly pointless things, would be a good idea. Right now, it's pretty much worthless to most players. Being able to further customize the aesthetic appeal of your custom class would be a great addition to the game, in my opinion.

give me hats (tf2) AND give me different costumes, both have the red and blue color variations but just look different, make the class not look completely different but give them something to look better, we all get bored of seeing the same person over and over but still.

Bikini for the Assassin would be extremely funny to see.

Team-colored sarashi. The Assassin is an...exotic...personality so why not make the skimpy outfit exotic too? Well, but our western standards anyways. Sarashi? I think that's the word. Well, some kind of bodywrap that looks like bandages. I think sarashi was the name for it...

I just realized that in order to work it would have to be free. Otherwise how would it work out, thinking more about the costumes and stuff, seeing as how would they see what I have without the DLC?

It can still be done Like most multiplayer DLC, they can simply release a patch that would make the costumes/customization viewable by everyone and purchasing the DLC license will simply allow you to unlock and use those costumes/customization.

yeah, other games have downloadable customization, that can be bought to use but is free in an update to be seen by anyone.

street fighter is an example of this. they have 2 colors of 1 costume to choose from in the original release of the game, and then you can buy quite humorous costumes, like guile is a biker, ryu is in battle-torn rags, akuma is shirtless, ect.

however, as mr. director said, the difficult theyll do right now, the impossible will take a little while longer. i bet they will add massively to this games humor and gameplay when given time. if it takes 8 months, well ill still be here and i hope most meh buddys here are as well.
