At the end of the match the supports score does not look impressive. The support can kill but he is not mainly a killer. He can use his firebase to down bots but he will usually not score top bot kills. The support supports. He is the difference between victory and failure on a good team. Thing is the supports efforts don't seem to be rewarded. He doesn't seem to be awarded for healing via the star rating. The support does not get cash for hacking turrets. Also the support does not get much cash for overhealing or does not get assists when healing players. Before anyone says it yes the medic in TF2 gets assists because he does not have much killing potential. Even so the Support does not receive any award beside the knowledge of being kredit to team. For a class that has certain turret responsibilities not having much cash sucks. Discuss.
I'd be happy with Assists from healing pro's who kill others (Like TF2), I also want to be rewarded for being a healing bitch other then friendly pros just either grappling in front of me or jumping up and down.
I usually do fine as a support in the money area. I set up my turrets, etc., but then run to the front line and heal people and PICK UP COINS. I'm telling you, the coins people leave laying around really make the difference in your bank account. Granted, this doesn't work quite as well on certain maps (G3, AM), but on some, especially spunky, I usually end up in the top 1 or 2 money players because I run out and grab coins while hurt gunning enemy bots to stay alive. Then back to heal my teammates, reset my turret, etc.
Thats great if you are uncontested...when good players are around you will not make the most money as Support.
I have mixed feelings about changing the support. He can be a powerhouse and absolutely steamroll, but at the same time he can sit in his base and heal a turret all game and not contribute to the win. IMO the problem lies in the play-style of most supports in the game. I consistently get a 3-5:1 kdr with him (rofl attachment), and usually have near the top gold on my team. Honestly the only difference I see between a "good" support and the ones that I feel contributed nothing to the end of the game is healing. When I play support I have my heal gun out 99% of the time. I only take out my shotgun if I am being attacked or if I am juicing. Other than that I am healing pros/bots/turrets/firebases and hurtgunning pros/bots. You gain juice surprisingly quickly when you are healing something all the time. You can then use this juice to score a pretty easy triple or round the horn with the shotty. IDK... I guess it depends how you play him. Giving him an assist for any kill a pro who is healed by him kills is a little to much imo. Maybe if he got an assist for a kill a pro got while being healed by him, or the kill has to happen while the pro is overhealed (has more than max hp). Even just increasing the passive money gain you get from healing would be good. It would motivate newer/inexperienced supports to heal things all the time. It certainly couldn't hurt... I am just worried that the changes would make him even stronger than he is after update 8.
It is difficult to say. Would you really want a good support to have enough money for gapshot spam and juice pillage? On top of him carrying his mediocre team? He can almost do that right now. I do agree, he does seem to suffer in earnings compared to other classes. Opinions: ~The support might suffer slightly compared to other classes in earnings. ~The support could use $2 instead of 1 for each unit of heal he currently gets money for. ~The support could use a really strict assist system for teammates he is healing, in a way that limits it to where he gets the assist only for 1 teammate that he is currently healing when they get the kill, and only if he has been healing that teammate for at least 10 seconds already. Facts: ~The support can still score high, 6-10k earnings per full length regulation match, even with good teammates helping with kills and bots, with combonations of gapshots, firebase placement, juice pillaging, ect. ~The support is very balanced, and while being very balanced he is still one of the most necesary classes, while you can arguably go without other classes. ~The support does have some unique powerful skills, such as airstrikes and moneyball damage.
Must of been bad players like seriously. After you get passed like 20 kills everyone and their mother Is after you to break your streak.
It is very possible to do well against good players with Support but chances are, you won't do better than the players themselves.
I kinda like the idea of assists being given when you heal someone at critical damage or if somebody is getting shot at.
what if you overheal them and they survive a headshot? you should be awarded somehow for that since you saved them
What about that you get your normal healmoney, but when you heal someone so much that they oterwise would've died, and get them to full health again, that you then get $15-25.
I have a confession. I will watch my team mate get grappled and killed by an assassin and not heal them. In that time I can line up a perfect shotgun shot and score more points. The rage from the team mate is the cherry on top. There I said it.
