I had my doubts, but now it seems like it'll actually be an interesting story.

The only new thing you learn is the name of Felicity's character. Everything else is just things happening. No story points beside what you already know: The Death Star plans get stolen.

People are actually angry about it having a female lead again.. The comments are flooded with it.

I just really don't understand this train of thought... It's the kind that tries to say white male is like the default or something, that anything else is just "diversification" I totally understand when it comes to changing past characters races/genders or etc... but in the case of creating new characters/ using old characters that were of a particular race/gender it makes no sense. Imagine someone getting mad at a movie for having a robot, or alien lead saying it's just "diversification" thrust down their throats. ESPECIALLY SINCE ROGUE ONE IS FEMALE IN LORE...........

Ridiculous that this thought process still hangs around today.

I must admit I was quite astonished at the reactions to both movies having strong female characters... since when did having a female lead in a film become a 'thing' to complain about? Haven't we had strong female characters for the last 20 - 30 years already?

As you say, I could see (not necessarily agree with mind) where people get annoyed when they change an existing, well established story. Even then however it often works well- the new BSG changed Starbuck from a male in the original to Female, although I don't remember this level of 'outcry' about it when that came out.

I'm pretty sure it's just people venting their anger because of all the feminazi BS, endless discussions on equality-but-not-really etc.

People hate anything that smells of change, and then when it turns out to be good, they'll quickly jump on the hype train and laud it for how great a move it was. Seen it happen tons of times. It'll happen again.

Not to mention, SW7 had a female lead, and Leia. The rest is male. And people still complain? Wow.

And yea Starbuck. When i heard the original was a man, i had a hard time actually conceiving that. Starbuck was great. I don't even know how to put it to words, to me Starbuck is a category of it's own.

Female lead? Seriously, who cares. As long as the movie is good (which I expect it to be), why should it matter who any character is!

Aren't AT-ATs meant for assaulting bases/armor and not infantry? Terrible tactics, you need infantry and light armor to defend your heavy armor against infantry. No wonder they lost the war.

We don't know what those AT-ATs are attacking.
