Hey Guys, I am really excited for this game as some of you know (you've dealt with me. lol) but I was think of something. PA is not that much different than Supcom, and Supcom is not that much different than TA. I was just wondering if anyone notice that. I know that they are really different in the since that this is huge with many planets, and Supcom was really big for an RTS game, and TA had never been seen before. But they all had the same concept of a Commander that built a building and then it made an engineer which built a building which built a unit and so forth (it even had the same art design to a point). I'm not saying it's bad, I was just wondering if anyone else noticed it.
Well for me personally it's one of the reasons I backed this thing in the first place. I mean they certainly didn't hide the fact that some of the devs have worked on said previous games. In fact for me it was a big selling point cause I was looking forward to something like this, with a multi-planet twist.
I didn't realize it wasn't implied to begin with.......Considering many if not all of the founders of Uber came from Gas Powered Games, who themselves came from the ashes of Cavedog. The Kickstarter Front page is pretty clear on the link as well. Mike
I almost would love for them to make a game with the same 2D art design as TA and make it huge like PA.
What I meant was that it hasn't change much over the years, it plays pretty much the same way. I know that they worked on those games in the past, but I was meaning that nothing much has changed.
I don't see how that should be surprising in this day and age of sequels and COD:8 or whatever they're up to now. Mike
It's not surprising, but it doesn't mean that I necessarily have to like it. I am so over COD and those games. I look at a lot of indie games like Castle Story, Prison Architect, UnderRail, and The Inner World that really change things up.
So what exactly did you want this rts to be like then? what improvements and new ideas do you think it could use to make it better then ta and supcom?
As a counterpoint, some people think PA is not similar enough to TA. (Anemic Uber gun, unit choices, etc.)
Cod gets 8 sequels, but we deserve a special place in hell for wanting a fourth sequel on a second branch to ta in its 20 year existence. Cod has three branches at least, and eight total sequels, in half the time. It makes more sense that the aforementioned place in hell is where anyone preordering ghosts belongs. Genetic labels aside, pa is a good game, i see no lack of interest or lack of luster or short potential in it.
Conversely it doesn't mean others don't (and I'm not trying to be douche there, just sayin). For me it's been a while since I've been able to get a hold of an RTS that isn't getting quite old (like Homeworld 2 for example) and so I'm excited to jump into something new, but familiar. Obviously I see enough new with the old to be happy to call this a whole new game and get excited about it.Perhaps for you it's too much old that you see. Either way I feel it was pretty well represented that it'll play how it's shaping up.
