The latest PTE-Patch really gave me a heads-up! If you continue doing that rebalancing stuff, continue to enhance the system editor to become more powerfull as well as easy-to-use at the same time and think about some more naval units like submar... This was how I wanted to start this post. Then you did another PTE-Build. And we´ve got submarines! Ok, let´s be clear: If you take a look at current speed, it´s possible to rerelease PA as an "enhanced edition" in summer. Why rereleasing? Course the metascore of PA is low right now and "review updates" are ignored by Metacritic so if you wanna have a high Metascore (and big press attention anyways!) for the game you´ll have to do a relaunch! In my eyes the initial version @release was good enough, but far away from it´s own potential! In my eyes it already deserved an 80+Rating, but saidly many reviews were completly flawed including terrible mistakes (like substracting points for "missing" Shields or Experimentals or not reviewing ShareArmy at all!) resulting into bad reviews! So: Prepare to do a relaunch in summer. Shoot for 90+Reviews! And prepare a second HumanResources-Kickstarter with THE SAME GOAL AS BEFORE. (everything else would look unreasonable!) But do give the players and magazines a month or so to finally realise " PA is as awesome as promised and a real unique RTS-Experience!", which most folks around here did already realise long time ago, before you place the second HumanResources Kickstarter! In the meanwhile you should place some interviews and a countdown for your 2nd attempt on Human Resources. It´ll rock the house!
That sounds like a bad idea. IMO it will take at least a year before you can think about releasing something like that, and I wouldn't call it enhanced edition. I think PA can and should go the route of an expansion pack somewhere down the line, which should include things which can't currently be done on the engine (including but not limited to many of the things that were a definite no the first time round). If said engine changes include things which make creating human resources cheaper to pitch, that's gravy.
this. A classical add-on would be pretty nice to have. Add in most of the "promised" features before that, then add something new and fancy and have the press go "oh PA now has saves, a map editor, offline mode, ranked play, a unit cannon, submarines, lots of UI polish, reworked orbital and general balance improvements, an improved galactic war and that new feature X that was added in this addon, wow" It however would need to feature something that is clearly "new" and that has not been promised before in any way. For example a bunch of experimental units or ... actually thinking more it is hard to come up with something that is distinctly "new" that is not "let's add another faction". I am not sure if that kind of thing is feasible. A new faction that actually integrates well would be a lot of work. I guess just a bunch of new units on every tech level plus maybe something like a new krogoth would be okay though.
And you do believe that this would be enough to get the press to redo their opinion on the base game as well?
Oh well, that´s a good point! But expension reviews ofter doesn´t get the same treatment as base ga... ( ) ...but PA got bad treatment anywa... ( ) ...well, screw this, you´ve simply got a good point!
