Hey, I'm DDT, and I want to tell you why I began to hate this game so much... ...Firstly. I love this game. I really do. Since release i've played myself to the 193rd place on the leaderboard. I think that should show all to well how much I like playing it. I enjoy good rounds, I enjoy close matches, I enjoy close wins, I enjoy close defeats... after all losing is no shame if you gave your best into your game. I enjoy playing all classes (even though i'd prefer not to have to play support that often... No team should be without a good support. I enjoy streaks of success, like seeing how many bots i've really managed to stop at the end of the match or managing to dominate the guy that made your last round a hell. I love this game. Now, why did I write that I hate this game? Simply because this hate is mutual. The game hates me and does not want me to play it. I'm apparently suffering from a rare bug, whose origins seem to be shrouded in mystery. It's a rare occurrence and has nothing to do with the Thompson Router problem (my router, a Linksys (Cisco) doesn't accept telnet in any way) I can generally join any game that I try to connect to and play just fine... Well, I got a ping a bit higher than usual, but I think that's related to the fact that i'm living rather suburban and can't get more than 2mbit cable... My problem is, that I apparently can't stay longer than about 20-30 minutes on a server. At some point I just drop right out of it. No disconnect symbol, no timeout time... just BAM! Loading screen, Browser, "The connection to the host has been lost". People keep trying to tell me, that it has got to be a problem with my PC or connection, but I find that hard to believe. I've been playing many, many games online and never had any problem like that. So IED, it must be a bug. As a result I, I fear, do not get anything i've acquired during the last round and, when I join again, have to rebuy any skills and in the end have to start over. In the worst case I have to rejoin a server many times during a session. And since the chance that the losing team has leavers first, I generally get teamed up with... less fortunate team setups. Now and then I seem to find a server where I don't drop. Just yesterday I had one of those, but since I can't fav servers ingame and didn't know the game I guess the point is moot... Also, the server was populated by pros that were stacked into one team without even have to select a team. Thank you stiff matchmaking algoritm :O I enjoy playing the game a lot and when i'm in a good mood I can even ignore all the other problems that cause me some concern, but in the end i'm suffering here. I have a lot of fun and I really want to play it, but in the end i'm at the short end of the deal. I can only hope that sending these logs to the sticky in the Support section might yield any result or, miracles included, the bug just stops. I don't really believe in it. Hardly anyone else has this bug and it affects probably only a handful of people. In the end all I can do is look away and reconnect over and over again. ...I don't really expect anything below this. All I wanted is to share my feelings. So long. I'll find me a few servers. -DDT ps.: I'm this close to add a gaming diary where I write up how often I get disconnected and where :I
Here is an idea to help you find servers: Before you join a server hover over it and take a screenshot with F12 in Steam. That way you can always find the last server you played on when you close MNC. It's not perfect but it will help you to make a list of servers that work for you. Good luck! PS: Showing the server name in the lobby with a button to add it to favorites would be awesome!
I'd feel better if I didn't have to do that :I I wanna play a highlander match too without fearing of dropping either this or next round...
Could this be an issue with either your ISP, or your network Adaptor, IE, do you still have access to the internet when MNC shuts down? You could try reinstalling MNC.
I've run ping rests while playing. No breakdowns in the connection during disconnects. I couldn't imagine it being a problem with the ISP, but if it is... it's beyond my powers to fix, since i'm not the contractor of our connection. I've played other games for hours straight. MW2, guild wars, the likes, something from everywhere... but this problem occurrs only in this game :I
Darrus, Can you send us your log files? We'd love to solve this issue that you're having. For any crash, freeze, or other fatal error we need 3 files to help diagnose the issue: A DXDIAG Report, the LAUNCH.LOG file, and the PATCH.LOG file. Heres how to find them: DXDIAG Report Windows XP Press your Windows "Start" button normally found at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Select the"Run" option in the menu. Type in "dxdiag" in the box and press "OK" Select the "Save All Information" Sometimes, you will be asked if you wish to check if the drivers are "digitally signed" Should this message appear, choose "Yes" Save the file to a place on your machine where you can easily locate it again e.g. your desktop. Attach the file to an e-mail and send this to us. Windows 7/Vista Press on the "Windows Vista" button normally found at the bottom left hand corner of the screen Select "Start Search" Type "dxdiag" in the box and press the return/enter button on your key board. Select the "Save All Information". Sometimes, you will be asked if you wish to check if the drivers are "digitally signed". Should this message appear, choose "Yes" Save the file to a place on your machine where you can easily locate it again e.g. your desktop. Attach the file to an e-mail and send this to us. LAUNCH.LOG & PATCH.LOG Windows XP "c:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents\UnrealEngine3\Hostilegame\Logs\Launch.lo g" "c:\documents and settings\<username>\My Documents\UnrealEngine3\Hostilegame\Logs\Patch.log " Windows Vista/7 "c:\users\<username>\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\Hostilegame\Logs\Launch.log" "c:\users\<username>\Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\Hostilegame\Logs\Patch.log" Replace <username> with the Windows account name you're logged in to. Email your files to support@uberent.com More info about your system Ok, a few more pieces of information will help: 1) What operating system are you running? 2) Are you running a limited user account? Does your account have administrator privileges? (You may not know the answers to these questions, that's ok) 3) Are you running any anti-virus or other security software? Try disabling those before launch as we've had lots of reports of this type of software interfering with the patching process.
I've already posted TWO logs. Both with at least three drop outs, one under this account, one under my old name (FTP). They're both in the related sticky. I've sent an email with my dxdiag report to the mail adress. 1. I'm running Windows XP SP2. I haven't really taken the time to upgrade to 7 yet. I'm always installing updates provided. 2. My PC has only one user account which has full administrative rights. 3. I'm running avast! Antivirus. I've tried to switch it off before playing, but i've yet to shut down the service completely. For experimentation i've once launched the game after manually deactivating as many services and programs in my task manager as possible. To no obvious avail, but i'll see what I can do...
Okay, I will go to the sticky for the related problem, download the logs and send them via mail if that's what it takes. I'm sorry. I'm just being bitter... edit: I've sent the requested logs
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8310 Might be related, from what I read. If it isn't the router, connectivity issues occur when using a windows7 while an xp runs on the same router. This describes the problem and the fix. This will work most likely if, in fact, you are on a router and are playing this game on a windows7 while a windowsxp also runs on the same router. And even if your case is the reverse, you could try disableing "browser" like it says to, and see if that helps.
