So, I got to thinking again. About Planetary Annihilation. And how AWESOME AND STUFF it is. My thoughts inevitably turned to the next build. What is in store for us this time? Bugfixes, assuredly. But what is going to be NEW? or IMPROVED? I personally am hoping for Stargates. And working submarines. and.....*thought ended* Plenty of stuff could go into that list. Could we get a shout out from Brad about what feature(s) are definitely planned for this build andwhich are conjecture? Then, maybe I wouldnt be so bored that I make horrible graphic art like this: I really don't like doing that to people
I guess the next big features will be unit cannons and gates (not stargates, uber doesn't want to get sued), and moving asteroids into and out of an orbit. Besides that, it could be anything from new units to a naval revamp, t2 anti air towers and so on. Don't forget the rework on orbital, with orbital factories and stuff. The list is huge and i don't think that everything of the things above will be in the next build. They will be implementing those things one at a time. So be patient young padawan.
It would be a bit better to hear about the current Development. I need some information to not get bored sometimes, things I could imagine and which I can be happy
It is probably worth remembering two things: Firstly, Uber deserved their holiday too. They probably only started back in the office again in the past couple of days. Of course, it is true that games development does attract those with an obsessive passion for it, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was some development done over the past couple of weeks, but I certainly don't expect it. Either way, a patch coming out soon would be a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation. Secondly, Uber has to split their development time between three major areas: Adding new features, developing existing features, and improving stability/performance. Just because a new patch doesn't have one of the cool big features like the unit cannon, teleporters or subs, doesn't mean that a lot of work still isn't going on on stuff that is less visible. I'm looking forward to the next patch too, whenever it may be, but I'm not going to speculate on what it is.
We really shouldn't be hyping up a new patch in anyway, I think we can remember what happened last time. Mike
I know it's unlikely to occure soon but i would really like to get improvements in planet generation so that we really get close to biome concepts pictures (lots of relief variation, plateau, slopes) in order to provide more strategy depth. I really would like to know to which extent these improvement will be done before release. I have the feeling that main objective was to first be able to build standard planets, working on main pathfinding algorithms and then all coding was concentrated on multi planet and solar system. Maybe at some point devs will work hard on planet generation improvement
For the last patch there was a huge thread that started based on a simple Dev comment that was assumed to be hinting at any number of things like unit cannons and teleported a or new units or a balance overhaul and all kinds of things. People basically hyped themselves up only to be disappointed. Mike
All I want is this network lag fixed again. It makes it rough on long games. (Although ANYTHING cool is nice.)
I just want to point out that when I am on my school's ethernet (which is faster than whatever you have) I am netlag free Here at home is a different story. I get netlag all the time. Usually it is due to your situation, as in, Wifi or cable, who's your ISP, etc. If you live anywhere but the US....well. This sort of applies.
Wonder when that unit list will be released that neutrino spoke about...would be cool to know all the units that will be in the game
The next patch could literally have a T2 AA defense turret and absolutely nothing else and I would consider it a good day.
I feel like this is already released..... cannot remember where though. I know a few are in the game files. I think all of us would. Most certainly.
