Partially an idea from tinygod, I think.. Good things about the current system: - Team selections are public, so people know if there's stacking going on - If the rest of the people don't want stacked teams, they can all choose the same color and "veto" the team stack. Problem: - Teams can avoid the "veto" by choosing or switching team at the last second Proposal: - Only allow one attempt at team selection. Once you choose a team, you're stuck with that choice. No switching around to confuse people. - If someone chooses a team with less than 5 seconds left before teams are locked, reset that timer back to 5 seconds to give others a chance to react.
The problem isn't people playing together with friends. It is everyone else trying to impromptu team stack when they see two players playing together or a good player on the server. Your proposed changes wouldn't really fix anything. What players need is a way to play with their friends without the rest of the server trying to stack based on 2-3 people playing together.
The problem is the people. If I go to play with my friend, after the first game, half the server will follow us, because apparently they don't want a good fight, they would rather AFK win. Not my fault.
this is pretty much it. It doesnt seem like team stacking is the issue, but more of people dont want a good fight. They would rather join the 2 people that are good and just roll through games. imo there needs to be a way for 2 - 3 friends to end up on the same team but others to not be able to lemming over to the same team.
One of the biggest balance problems is that <20 players are a huge handicap. I'd much rather have a team of all 50s than a team of three 70+ players and two sub 20 players. Balance just can't be done by a strict average when there's so much to learn in the early levels. And yes, how about some sort of a party system that lets you grab up to 6 of your Steam friends. That way, they'd all get balanced as one entity rather than having anyone else good on the server hop on the bandwagon.
It'd be ideal if Steam did it but it isn't strictly necessary. Obviously it's a lot more work and it may be complete overkill to solve the problem. It's a pure hypothetical right now but I think team matchmaking may be where MNC should be going long term.
