Hi Uber. I just played a game, and infact it was alike many other games. The team balance is waaaay off. My team had all the highest scored (stars) players. When the game started (4v4) a new player entered and guess what, he ended up with the team with the most stars, so we literally won in 1 minute and spend a minute INSIDE the opponents base. There really need to be some balance check.
They are aware of it. And is working on it. And stars hardly represent trueskill. I've met many 3-stars that are so much better than some 5-stars.
Stars do present trueskill, either you do a shitton of lane pushing or you got a insane kill/death ratio. Either way, it presents how good you do the objectives of the game. Those who claim starrating aren't trueskill, are naysayers and baddies, sorry but it's the conclussion of 10+ games.
I'm sorry but you're wrong, very wrong indeed. 10+ games isn't long enough to draw a conclusion from. The way the star set up now is bad, it punishes those of us who like to play the objective and don't care about kills. I push bot lanes all day and juice up and destroy turrets, I probably destroy more turrets than a lot of people but that isn't counted in the skill rating.
During the free weekend, I saw a guy with just 1 kill and quite a few deaths rise up to 4 stars from 3, but he was killing and buying bots like a boss. Not sure if that's the same case now with the newest patch though.
Of course Turret Killsa ren't counted in the skill rating, people could take 0.1% of the Turrets HP and get the credit? An Assassin could Juice up and take 4 towers and get 5 stars in an hour.
Lane pushing doesn't add enough to your star rating at the moment. I've gotten MVP too many times by a margin of $1000+ while losing stars to trust the system. They're working on improving the system, it is by NO MEANS an accurate portrayal of skill at the moment. It's really just a k/d tracker.
The stars provides an answer for one thing: Can this person kill a whole lot of people without dying a bunch of times? That is it.
I AM FED UP OF ONE-SIDDED GAMES. All you have now is people pub-stombing. Why can you change your team-color at the last second? So frustrating.
Because people asked for that particular feature. There should be an option to turn it off(?), but most servers leave it on, it seems.
Well it is a bit annoying to be in a 12 person server then try and get on a team with your friend to see 7 other people join the same colour because you're high ranked or won the last game. Sometimes it does really seem off though but it really comes down to the star system being a bad indicator of skill.
It's also really annoying to see the same team that won the previous game all stick together for the next one too mix it up, assholes
I just had the luck to play against a group of those. Very interesting bunch. At the end it was 2 (my team) vs. 5 (them). Needless to say, they lost.
It's seems to be based on $/min. That mins if you are getting lots of money (which can be from killing turrets, bots, players, assists, streaks, and not dying) you get money. The faster/more optimally you can accomplish these tasks, the more stars you have. Therefore, the more you contribute to your team (it's a timed game, so the faster you do things the more you are contributing) the higher your rating is. If you have a kdr of 5 but go 5/1 with 20 bot kills in a 15 minute game, you are getting less money than someone who gets an 11 kill streak but ends something like 20/6 and 140 bot kills.
If it's based on cash/time, I don't think I should be 3-star. I often lead for cash, earning $6k+ for a full game with 150+ bot kills. KDR isn't impressive, only 1.25 lifetime, with per-game KDR being anything from 1 to 5. ^ aka "I don't think it's based on cash/time very much"
I can't accurately say that the star system is currently trustworthy, but you can clearly see the difference between 1-3 star players & 4-5+ star players. It's not difficult to get a great amount of bot kills, so I assume that it's worth less. How come UBer haven't posted their Star System measures yet? Would be interesting to see it.
