    So as we all have surely experienced when playing larger planets is that tanks become rather redundant and time consuming. Also the other thing that's annoying about tank speed is that its the same as the commander so all to common we see games dragged out by coms running from hordes of tanks.

    I recon a take the tanks max speed up to 8 and lower there acceleration down to 50 and take it from there. This will hopefully make tanks more viable on larger planets and will stop coms running for ever, but not let them get over run to easily. Depending on how this preforms the acceleration could be dropped even more.

    The other thing to consider is just change the leveler. I know this is a part of game balance and for now until we have formation to keep units in a group its probably better to leave all tanks at the same speed.

    A TA commander with a strong economy could tear through tanks like wet tissue paper. It was also one of the slowest units in the game. It worked out pretty well for the time.

    Yeah air transports will be good, but even then I think they are to slow.

    I think we need to wait until a full or mostly full unit roster until we start fine tuning things like this. :-/

    I guess this is really only noticeable on planets larger than 3 or 4. At least in my experience. I like your idea by the way, that's a good compromise. It will make microing tanks less rewarding as well.
    Air Transports are sorely needed. It will bring a huge new element to the game

    Two words: Forward bases.

    It is generally a bad idea to rely solely on one cluster of factories, largely because they can all be destroyed at once and - as is the issue here - relay times are long on large planets.

    In a free for all you can easyle end up with a lot of spare units, also you need to be able to defend it while it goes up.

    Yeah I get that, but there is a difference between experimenting and trying to balance. Yes some experimenting is redundant, but this can still give us some good data.

    It would certainly be interesting to have levellers and ants at different speeds, but unfortunately, it wont fix the large planet problem. We (i say 'we', but i seem to remember being the one bringing up the subject) were asking for air transports back in alpha to make the whole large planet thing viable.

    Its a nice attempt to fix the problem, but i see it as more of a bandaid for it. Increasing the speed will pose bigger problems for smaller planets =/ We NEED air transports soon, as well as unit cannons, everything else can come when they are done, but these are high priority units which uber seems to mis-understand =_=

    Teleporters will also help large planet issues.

    Teleporters don't have to leave the planet. :)
