Is outclassed by adding another Sniper I think. Possibly even more dominant once full Blackjack waves arrive. Next time I'm playing, I'm going to beg my team to do this, provided we have an extra competent Sniper.
Bad for bot pushing until explosive shot, but even when you get that it still isn't as effective as a tank. Could work though as slaying becomes much easier.
I have to disagree. I feel like the snipers are too frail and too easily pushed back. A great tank can neutralize basically any class except a leashed gunner or an insane sniper. The tank is also way better at getting the bots into the base. I feel like you should only run this setup if your tank isn't that good or is a way better sniper or something. The only place I see the sniper excelling is juice gain, which a smart tank can still do (I've been juicing 4-5 times in OT games lately).
Pros +More damaging harass (GUNNER GO BOOM) +Lots more juice +ICE TRAPS. ICE TRAPS EVERYWHERE. Cons -Less pushing power -Less frontline power -Less power at killing enemy assassins
You see, if I tried to get juice as quickly as I could, I'd probably juice at least 10 times a match. Here's how I would play the secondary Sniper: Save my money until I can go straight to explosive rounds. As in, no other other skills, even ice trap 2. It wouldn't take long at all, as I can get kills pretty easily on the Assassin or Tank depending on which lane I'm in. Actually, I think I might run Armor Accuracy Rate on this class, so i can easily put one or two shots to my enemy in lane, and finish them off with the SMG if they come for me. The accuracy would also mean more successful juices.
Or you could just have a tank who can kill the assassin even easier, and also has more mobility, and also fares better in a close-up bot lane situation (which is what it seems this secondary sniper would be doing), and in your team's case would be Hawkshade, who is a much better tank than sniper.
Your teams assassin will hate you and the other teams assassin will love you. Since Shammas hawkshade and yan have been back people are being reminded why tank is important. For awhile smarter supports we're putting weak links on tank to sit back and product/rail bots and occasionally chip the gunner. The games community even though small has made it that privates are no longer about where do you put your weak link, and more about where do you put your best player, because in a balanced game these days any class can lose you the game
I think it could work alright, and we could sit here and debate it all day...but nobody can TRULY say jack **** until it's been tested. Give it a shot, at least a game or two, and see how it works out. Personally, I think it would be tough to make work because there's nobody to bully the assassin except for the assassin. Also, on LR and G3, it just flat out wouldn't work. Also, if I was a private match assault, and I saw two snipers on the other team, I'd pretty much get a boner.
I still wanna do this. Imagine tedforever in the bot lane, but instead it's me. I guarantee I could mess with the Assassin just as much as a Tank could. I know this because I've switched targets in games where there's a decent Assassin on the opposite team and I know they need the business. And how wouldn't it work on G3? Laze is the only map I would potentially have a more difficult time, but I think I could make it work. I'd just chill underneath mid, or on the right side w/ icetraps.
I feel like the only map this could really work on is Spunky. That Tank's gonna have a hell of a time being anywhere near the middle if the other team has 2 Snipers with explosive rounds lane pushing.
I can agree with that. Explosive round sniper on spunky >>> tank for countering assassin. Really, explosive round sniper on spunky >>> any other assassin counter in the game.
To me that seems like even more of a reason to have your tank, just so you can push bots without being wrecked. And once the tank gets in their face and ruins their day, the assassin will be free to push bots almost uncontested.
Undercover_Thudercat This. There really is no need to have multiple snipers in one team, especially not in private matches. You can get away with that when you're playing against new players, but not in private matches where you'll find skilled players. I personally have the most difficulty taking down Assaults as a Sniper than I do Assassins. Nothing messes me up more than being a Sniper and having multiple Assaults camp the spawn area.
The metagame is different in private games though. And the term "highly skilled" affects both classes. A highly skilled sniper will usually beat a highly skilled assault if played correctly, and especially in a coordinated team setting. I can kill Chron's assault about 40% of the time purely 1v1 on his host, and I wouldn't consider myself the best sniper. This being said, I still think one of each class is better than 2 snipers, but 2 snipers is better than 2 assaults in a competitive match (my opinion).
All I know is that as long as the current meta game is "stick the tanks in the right bot lanes and don't allow them to push out past the middle of the map", no juiceless game will ever end pre-overtime.
